Do you think they are all Celiacs? Or is it just gluten free is trendy?

They don't have it. They're attention whores. Next question.

I accidentally bought a gluten free muffin once. I made sure to check after that. If they had extra gluten muffins I'd get that one.

They don't
A lot of people simply want something to make themselves appear “special” and to garner sympathy.
This is a quote from a news article about your question:
quote:LINK
A recently published study in the journal Digestion found that 86 percent of individuals who believed they were gluten sensitive could tolerate it. Individuals with celiac disease, a hereditary autoimmune condition that affects about 3 million Americans, or roughly 1 percent of the population, must avoid gluten.

If they have Celiacs disease then yes they actually have the auto immune disease.
If you are grouping celiac along with gluten intolerance or even wheat allergy than no they don’t all have Celiac disease.

My wife has celiacs, not sure if the gastroenterologist told her that so she could get attention or not. Had bloodwork test positive for some markers then had a biopsy and all confirmed, plus got scoped. She can no longer eat much of her favorite foods and is embarrassed when we go out to eat asking waiter to be 100% no gluten touches her food and they change gloves. It’s getting to the point we seldom go out anymore. If she’s loving the attention she definitely hides it well.

according to my wife's naturopath doc... massive over prescription of antibiotics killed people's gut bacteria.. resulting in all kinds of bad unexpected shite, celiac being one of them.
who knows...

They are out there. I think they are saying people claim they have it, but really don't. And if I had a food allergy, I wouldn't go to a place that had it everywhere that required special care.
Like going to a sandwich place and ordering a sandwich without bread.

In my experience with people who have convinced themselves they have celiac it's something akin to this. They have eaten like shite for years and don't exercise, and their stomach gets upset over anything that deviates from their normal shitty diet.

I’m not surprised and my wife has always taken them for sinus infections although I finally got her to stop a couple years ago. She did take them all the way through and didn’t stop half way through like some do but damn, once or twice a year she was on an antibiotic. That shite ain’t good

Mexican and steak houses are pretty much it now for us. We all just get corn only stuff and no flour in any of our plates. But that’s just with her, kids, and I. If with friends, she would never ask them to do that. She’d just eat before we went out
She’s always been a healthy eater though, much much healthier than me.

Same reason so many people have fibromyalgia.

I think there are still people that think Celiacs disease and gluten intolerance are one and the same.
Although I think some people can be truly gluten intolerant (just not most) the best thing about gluten intolerance is that it increased food choices for those with Celiacs.

I work with a woman who self diagnosed herself with a wheat allergy because she read on the internet that if you get tired after eating bread that means you have it.
All the fat asses have thyroid disorders too. Crazy how that works
