re: What show had the most satisfying finale?

How has no one mentioned Sopranos?
The last scene with uncle junior alone, - - a top 5 in the whole series i thought - - is enough to make the list.
Add that to the most infamous ending ever and you have what is probably the best final epsidoe of the best televison series.
Breaking bad was too neat... Almost too much fan service. Yes it was fine, but it went exactly how everyone thought it would.
Now, if it was ever confirmed that Norm Macdonald's theory of the finale is true... Then we may have a different story.
Norm theory at 1:10 mark

And honorable mention in that the original series finale was supposed to be season 5 - Supernatural.
If we're going with intended series finales...
Justice League Unlimited had an amazing series ending with the revelation of the Luthor/Brainiac team, and the sense that Flash's destined death was needed to defeat them. Then they followed up with the Batman Beyond Epilogue episode that harkened back to the first episode of Batman The Animated Series and brought the entire DCAU to a close.
Then they found out they were renewed for another season, and came up with an equally astounding finale season, culminating with Superman and Darkseid's final confrontation, and Superman's amazing "I feel like I live in a world made of cardboard" speech.

The Shield was pretty good. Vic relegated to an office job, which was a personal hell, but that last scene hinted that he was going to still hit the streets for some vigilante justice. At least that's the way I took it.

Can we make it somewhere else? Bc I will want a drink after and I have to piss like a racehorse after a route 44.

As most have said, Breaking Bad is the GOAT for finales.
I didn't see How I Met Your Mother mentioned, but I thought they did a great job with the final 6 episodes or so leading through Barney and Robin's wedding, divorce, Ted's marriage (her death), and ending with the return of the blue horn.

This is pretty well regarded as on of the worst season finale's ever.

Everything was great about that ending all the way up until the blue french horn bit with him going back to Robin. It turned out that sequence had been planned and filmed years ago, so they stuck with it, despite the fact that those characters had changed a lot since then, and that outcome no longer made sense. That sequence after Robin’s wedding went from one of the best endings to one of the worst endings in like 10 minutes of screen time.

Justified, The Americans and Breaking Bad come to mind.
All good choices.

The final scene with junior was incredible and would have made a great ending to the series.
The actual ending has gotten way better with age IMO. Like everyone else I was pissed when it first aired 12 years ago.

Might have missed it but I liked how grimm ended.
Not a board favorite, but solid show.

Man the show should have ended here. That 5 series arc was an all time great for sure. I can’t believe they are hanging on for 15 seasons!
I haven’t watched since season 7 I think, but the premise of the final season with all the monsters from previous seasons back and Chuck (god) as the final bad guy might get me to watch it

The very end of Newhart was pretty good.

It’s funny reading this after being on this board when the finale happened and multiple posters melted all the way the frick down over the finale.
I enjoyed it. But man, there were some that hated it.
