Been through a couple times, seems like a chill place. I work in Lafayette a lot and was thinking of purchasing an older home there. My per diem would more than cover it plus some minor improvements. I'm usually there a few nights per week and hate the hotel/camper life.
Is there a high crack head population there that would steal all of my copper while I'm gone?

Have a buddy with family there. They seem to like it. They're big in the farming community though, so that probably helps.

It's where I was born and raised. Back in the day, the crackheads (mostly) stayed in the area past Myran's along the bayou. It's got some neat things going for it for being such a small town.

LA31 Brewery - arguably the best taproom atmosphere out of any of the local breweries.

Little Big Cup - a fantastic restaurant/bar that features an unbelievable boucherie brunch every Sunday.

NuNu's - local art, French tables, Cajun music jams, etc.

You should be fine. Just don’t leave cash and jewelry and other valuables there when you are not there.

It's close enough to laffy for dating purposes and also pretty close to where I hunt/fish

Grew up a town over and went to high school there. I still have a bunch of friends there and the people are generally pretty awesome. It's like most little small towns. But there must be something in the rust colored water because there are some smoke shows. Like the other people said, LA31, Little Big Cup, Myran's are all solid. You're close the basin and Lafayette. I always make a pass through when I come back to town for a 6 pack and some onion rings and banana shake from Myran's.

Better check out how the place is affected when Bayou Teche starts flooding.

I’m not far from it. Have friends from there, some who lived there and some still do. Really no complaints from them and I don’t mind going visit them sometimes out there. The little big cup doesn’t suck. The silver slipper wasn’t far out and closed a while back, that place was good too. Good gun shop in the area as well.

I used to live outside of Grand Coteau, not far off I-49, about 10 minutes or so from Little Big Cup. The whole area is nice and quiet. Close enough to Lafayette when you need to be there but far enough out not to be invaded by it. Don't speed through the towns though, unless you like paying extra taxes.

Better watch out for those St. Martin parish women.. They don't play and fight like men. Also, they drink like fish.
