Well I hope he lands with Green Bay. Kind of weird trying out kickers for Nola when we have one of the better kickers we’ve ever had already on the team. I do think Cole will be an NFL kicker at some point if the cards fall in favor and he gets the opportunity. There are only 32 kickers in the NFL since teams dont keep a 2nd one, but if he gets that chance, I hope he takes it in stride.

the Saints offense was for most of his tenure, straight up atrocious. They would be lucky to get to the 40 yard line and then they would trot Morten out to attempt long field goals.

That's just not true. 3 years under Bum Phillips was bad. The decade with Jim Mora wasn't. The Saints offense was competent--just conservative. They had no problem moving the ball for 3 quarters. Also, the defense usually set them up with good field position.

There is a reason Morten is still the leading scorer in team history even though he has been gone for 25 years.

That says a lot about his longevity and the lack of elite skill position players in the team's history.

I really hope he makes it in the NFL but he is wasting his time with the Saints.
if no one else is calling to sign him he isnt wasting his time

1. Saints can bring him to camp and let him kick potentially in the preseason to get more exposure and hopefully catch on somewhere else

2. if he aces his time here and no one picks him up + something happens to Lutz(injury, suspension, life) he could be the 1st person the Saints call

3. his first visit is to GB for a reason. He knows the chances of him beating Lutz are incredibly low vs potentially beating out an old Crosby that missed what 5 kicks in a game last year.

This is exactly how we even got Wil Lutz. He went and worked out for the ravens who were obviously set on Tucker. Harbough was impressed and told Payton to give Lutz a shot.

Cole’s agent needs to call Chicago - there try outs went 2-8 from 43 yards - the distance that kept them from advancing !

If he’s hitting the cross bar at 53yds In good conditions, how is he going to kick in Lambeau field in November? Just curious how that is stupid

Because he was the best kicker in college football while kicking outside in the freezing cold of Massachusetts while at Assumption?

Accuracy is great, but if you can’t even bring in your FG kicker to kick a 55yd FG because he can’t reach it, chances are you won’t kick in the nfl.

And still his career long is 53 outdoors lol.

When you can’t even send the guy in for a long attempt you generally don’t kick in the nfl.

I agree with Lester.

Dude is accurate as hell from inside a certain yard line but with no booming power he wont be a starter.

His calling might be as nothing more than an injury call up unless he can work on inproving his distance.

I think he’d have to find a dome team at the very least.

You sign him then trade him in 4'th week of preseason for a 5'th rnd pick. Tracy keeps on giving.

That has nothing to do with it being in Chicago or Green Bay though like you alluded

Tracy was nails while kicking in the cold in Mass. He simply doesnt have the leg for the NFL

My son wants to be a kicker, but I know it’s going to be a tough road. He can absolutely destroy anything with air in it...but there are so many variables. The journey will be interesting, every kicker story is rough.

I say that because we watched LSU vs Ga game last year and the announcers were explaining that the dark glasses kicker just got on scholarship after winning the previous game for them. How is the kicker for Ga not on scholarship? Just seems like luck to even get a shot... DawgNation He ended up getting it right before the LSU game last year. Leading scorer, no scholarship.

He’ll get his first shot fairly soon, relative to how long he’s been practicing.

I took him to an Atlanta at Saints game and the kickers were just amazing. Warm ups were unreal.

In places like Chicago and Green Bay it's quite rare that field goals beyond 52 yds are even attempted. Cold and wind make things difficult to the point that teams play those areas of field much more conservatively than when in a dome. If Tracy can kick with great accuracy from 50 yds and in, in those environments then he could very well be the exact type of kicker they need.

I’d love to see a stat regarding dome based kickers outside in the playoffs.
