Do pilots even fly planes anymore?

Clapping for a flawless landing has become a rare thing as most pilots seem to enjoy slamming them down.
I appreciate the skill to set one down smoothly and clap for it.
I just feel awkward when passengers start clapping for a smooth landing because well, its the pilot's job to get us down smoothly in 1 piece.

this just an international travel thing? I've never heard clapping whenever I've traveled in the States.
I’m not an avid international traveler. However, I was once told that this is tradition for international flights returning to the good ole USA.

Yeah, real annoying. Happened while my buddies and I were on our way back home from Vegas. There was turbulence but not enough to reward a round of applause after landing at ORD. fricking pissed me off. Buncha fricking idiots out there, baws. Stay safe.
Damn. I can understand finding it a bit silly. But getting annoyed and pissed off about it? You need help if you’re that easily triggered.

People always clap on international flights
This. I've flown between European countries probably about 50-60 times, can't recall a flight they didn't clap at the end. Only had it happen a couple of times in the states, usually in big vacation hubs like Vegas.

I always clap when the Greyhound driver pulls the bus into the station. I want him to feel appreciated for safely bringing poors, drug mules, and various degenerates to their destination.

You ungrateful bastards better be clapping, and feeding the tip jar as you’re getting your sorry asses off my jet.

every time Ive landed in Denver this has happened
Lived in Denver for a little bit and can confirm that all flights going east to west into Denver all had rougher landings. I believe it has to do with how the wind is coming over the Rockies and down into the frontier that make it such.

Why would I tip? You've already gotten me where I want to be. You need to be collecting tips as people board. Have one of those high school fundraising posters where you draw a thermometer with the target total at the top and you fill it in with red marker so people can see how close they are to meeting the donation goals as they board.
Write something like "fiery death" at the bottom, "I'm gonna fly you into a thunderstorm" in the middle, and "smooth as a Brazilian chick's taint" at the top.

I find it funny that it's clearly a non-American tradition.
