Is it wrong to want these people tarred and feathered?

I can't stand people that do this, it's up there with movie theater clappers when the credits roll for my personal peeves

Sometimes when the pilot is standing in the cockpit door, I'll shake his hand and palm him a dollar... They seem to appreciate that.

Easily my biggest pet peeve when it comes to flying. these people who stand up early actually waste everyone's time and get to the luggage claim at a slower pace.

I also associate these people as the same people who switch lanes every second in traffic.

I clapped once after landing in Denver.

I thought it was reasonable since I thought I was dying about 45 seconds prior. May of even threw out a “hallelujah”

Never seen this happen, but I've definitely seen clapping for the pilot after he/she lands the plane in rough weather.

I've done it for a pilot who landed in a heavy cross wind. Felt like the plane was at 45 degrees to the runway, and I felt it swerve when the wheels grabbed.

Same. Flew into BTR from ATL. Flight had been delayed for several hours and they had a small gap to get us into. I can still remember how it looked when I thought the wing was going to touch the runway as we landed.

You didn’t have to include a “she”. Very few females landing commercial planes.

If it was a Captain Sully kind of situation, sure.

Back in the 80s I was on a flight into Raleigh-Durham and as the plane was on approach the winds were so bad I could literally look out the window and see the wing pointed towards the ground, after the plane wobbled like this 3/4 times I was thinking we were all going to die. Once the plane landed safely the entire cabin erupts in clapping and cheering. However, never seen it on a typical flight.

I've seen people do it during bad weather landings and a couple of times when it was a "perfect" landing where you barely even noticed the plane touching down. I think it's dumb.

Seen it in rough weather. Otherwise no, but I think it's a neat show of appreciation. I always tell the flight attendants "thank you" when I leave a plane and if the cockpit door is open and the pilots are in there, I stop and say thank you to them as well.

edit: I see people are assaying they've done it for rough weather, but it was a sunny as day and very normal landing with 0 roughness

Seems like the best time to clap, TBH.

I hate this as well. Like, if you aren't in the first five rows, sit the hell down until it's your time to get up and get off the plane.

Airlines have gotten the boarding process down, but the off-boarding process is an absolute disaster.
