Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Until you go back to that place or person and remember why you left in the first place. It's like nostalgia. You remember all of the good but forget the bad. Human nature.

Wish I could miss Louisiana.
It would mean I wasn't here.

Nope. I’ll just fly in a few weekends for LSU and Saints games.

Yes, the conundrum of living in a shitty state that actually does have unique culture, food and people. As much as I do not like living here do to bad roads, pollution and dumb people etc...every time I have moved away for work, which has been 3 times for many years....I always miss it and want to come back "home"
Louisiana ....it may suck but the things that make it suck are less than the things that make other places suck more.
ETA- When I retire Im moving a state with no state tax.... and no humidity

As been said, you miss college and being young.
I would lmao if you moved back to LA now. You'd be talking shite about it in the first week and regretting your decision bigly.

Ahhhh the nostalgia bug
We found it hits every spring. Just like the "why don't we buy the Victorian cattywampus from this house and fix it up? It's got off street parking and ...."
Two weeks later, when spring has disappeared in a haze of chemical fumes (no, our next door neighbor didn't burn toast every morning, it was just Chalmette)and the humidity. Then we remember that horrible part of the morning when the humidity is 100% and the temperature is approaching 80, that's when that Victorian doesn't look like a can do project.

Take my advice...don't move back. I moved away and went through the same emotions. When I'd come back home to visit my parents, I'd get all sentimental and that feeling would be tenfold.
And then something happened (death in the family of a sibling) and I moved back home in a heartbeat to be with my parents. And I was living in Colorado!
Granted, if I never moved back I would never have met my wife and have the kids that I have now, but man I'm fricking miserable living here again. Stay where you are, young man. You're better off just coming home and visiting rather than living in this shithole.

Sounds like you have bigger problems baw.
I love New Orleans and Louisiana. It’s certainly not perfect and it has problems. But it’s home. Everywhere I go I always end up back here.

I’ve got many friends, family, and co-workers that have left Louisiana and came back. All have seemed to be glad they did. Both jobs I work are out in the public and I meet people who moved here, aside from the humidity, pretty much all love it here. Don’t worry about the posters here who only lived here in college and love bashing La. Come back bro
ETA: Some of the out of state folks that moved here do complain about the roads also. For the most part, white and black folks, go on and on about how friendly people are here and like the slow pace. Many people I’ve met from out west and up north have said that. The biggest negative comment, that we as a people of Louisiana could do something about, is litter. And the roads but crooked politicians seem to be the only ones that run for office here. Even when an outsider wins they wind up crooked so our roads suck. We can’t fix the humidity which is 99% of the complaints I hear from outsiders

If you mean little ones who are not teenagers, get out now. If you have to wait for them to get out of the house then I hope it does not become too late for you.
