DU Northerners heating ponds to screw over Louisiana Duck Hunters

Someone told me yesterday that DU is in a massive conspiracy with northern farmers in regards to heating ponds to keep more ducks up north for the winter.
The logistics of this would be astronomical, not to mention the cost. After some google searches I only found discussion board posts. Heating enough water to affect the migratory pattern of 50 million ducks would seem pretty steep.
Does anyone think this is even remotely possible? I had an awful duck season this year, but I chalked it up to weather and way too much water. Is the DU really involved in a conspiracy to fook over us LA duck hunting brethren?

The whole heated pond debate is stupid. Honestly, I think that duck populations are just way down and have been going down since the early 2000’s and DU and Delta doesn’t want to admit this. Down numbers=less money

They're not using heaters, ice eaters are essentially a boat prop that churns the warmer water located below the surface, to the surface and moving water is harder to freeze, they can't even get that part right.
Flyway Federation doesn't even understand pond heaters, but have convinced enough people that they're ahead of the curve on why the duck hunting isn't like it used to be in the 70s

No one except idiots use the "heated pond" comment. But yes there is and has been large scale "ice eaters", pumps, agitators, etc... and so forth put in by and with DU money to keep water open for waterfowl in Northern states. This is well documented and proven beyond a shadow of a doubt. What is up for debate is how much effect in the overall sense of the migration it really has. Is it "short stopping" in general sence of the word. NO. Is it slowing the migration of ducks YES but on what and how grand of a scale? That is up for debate. As well as flooding crops in those states and keeping water open. These are real issues on the delay/slowdown/"hot cropping" of the migration. Yes it has caused a very noticeable change to the migration patterns of many ducks up and down the flyway to people that have been doing this for 40+ years. Those that have only been in the game since late 90's and 2000's really cannot relate to the issue as well. But we all just need to drop the DU vernacular "heated ponds" it kinda defines you as a person when you refer to it.

It is impossible to even begin to think about heating water on such a scale. Would be much cheaper to trap ducks and geese in the North, fly them down to Louisiana, and release them. Much much cheaper.

The nets are a bigger problem than the heated ponds.

This is the best conspiracy theory I have ever heard of. Thank you for this. Can't wait to troll people with this while drinking.

And yet you send them money to do it, if not you personally you do it through your tax dollars with WLF giving DU and others grants to support those efforts.

You don't have to heat it just have a few circulation pumps

Flat earthers think this too.

I hear they are going to switch to genetically modified ducks that don’t migrate

Global warming isn't doing the trick?
