I never have and honestly I’m not sure if I made any money I would even then. To me I can’t imagine donating a dime to any school that isn’t revenue positive from its athletics department either. Anyways for those that dondonate is it annually or you just donated a lump sum one time payment and is it specifically designated for a specific use?

People who aren't total trash typically try to give back to the institutions that have made a positive impact in their life in whatever way they can.

If you wanted to establish a new school, I can see that.

Otherwise, absolutely, what is the point?

My company will match my contribution for a one time lump sum up to a certain #. Looking to do that within a few years and look like a baller, with actually only putting up half the cash.

Alumni giving rate affects the rankings and rightfully so.

If your alumni don't donate, they either can't afford to or they think it's not worth doing.

Yep. Through TAF fees only.

ETA: Not for me but: PLUS 9 years of tuition fees and books, 7 years of Greek payments and dorm fees and meal plans.

I’m so over donating.

Give a small bit a year to the department of the school I graduated from (social sciences), am a member of the alumni association and also a booster. Alumni association and department contribution is around a hundred bucks a year. I'm not poor, but I'm not setting the world on fire.

My wife gives zero to hers, she'd be more likely to donate to her high school, which is weird to me. Don't think I'd give a dime to mine.

Not when I know for a fact my donations will be mismanaged to run my school into the pit of hell.

No. I genuinely think the place where i completed undergrad should cease to exist. Its a satellite campus of a reputable university, but it is a degree mill.

Never have but I'm not opposed to it. They got plenty of my dad's money in my 7 years of college. I should probably donate to him.

Sure....I am proud of my university and want it to flourish. As that can only bolster the value of my degree.

I typically donate to TAF for football tickets and also to the college of engineering.

Not since they hired Orgeron as HC. The current situation with Wade will ensure they never see another dime from me.

Not to LSU. They would waste it. Plan on donating to my grad school department though.

I paid to go to that institution and if I didn’t they would have kicked me out. I owe them nothing.

I donate more annually to TAF than most people make in a year.. But that will be ending if the current leadership in the athletic dept doesn’t change soon.

John Mulaney has an excellent set about this, and I think he put it best:

“If you’re an adult still giving money to your college, college is a $120,000 hooker and you are an idiot who fell in love with her.”
