Says that Wade and LSU intended to meet, but LSU compliance demanded that they and the NCAA be in attendance, which predictably undermined all attempts at resolution.

Full post:

quote:

Supposedly, there was another run made at a meeting between Will Wade and LSU's top brass.

But LSU's compliance department demanded that they and the NCAA attend the meeting and it devolved from there. So no meeting, no lifting of Wade's suspension and LSU will go into the NCAA Tournament without a coach.

EDIT: This must be understood in context, which is that Will Wade had laid down the law that either Miriam Segar had to go or he would, and it looked pretty clear that Segar was the one on the outs in that battle before that Yahoo! Sports piece came out. So this is very much a political battle on top of all this. Weak leadership allows this stuff to happen.

Why can't they happen to just "meet" while WW is going to his office to "get a book or something"??? WHY does it have to be this hard when "other coaches" are in I think the same situation at other schools yet are refusing to meet???

The entire compliance department needs to be replaced now if not sooner.

Call Scott McKay what you want. But I don’t see much wrong with what he did when he became persona non grata at LSU.

He wasn’t posi tiger enough and got banned from campus back in the day.

Edited so I could put my Latin in italics. Makes me look smarter when I do that.

Why is it all or nothing.

Why can't Alleva meet with Wade without compliance and NCAA present and then decide if what was said during the meeting is sufficient to lift the suspension?

If you do something dumb and your boss says hey what happened, come talk to me about it VERSUS, I’d like to speak to you and FYI the HR VP will be present. Those are two very different meetings.

To demand that the NCAA be a party to the first meeting is just plain stupid. No attorney would take his client in to talk to the police without discussing the case with the client first. This is what that would amount to. Have a private meeting with Wade and then go from there. The compliance people are not the ultimate bosses and should not be calling the shots, especially if they are recommending something this stupid.

Why can’t Alleva tell the compliance department to frick off?

My guess is that FKing Alexander wanted them there.
