Showing up at a black tie event in a business suit and a regular tie is an alpha move.

Go this route, Affliction meets Halloween.

PS: How do you get to the age of majority and not own a tuxedo and/or don’t think the rules apply to you?

I feel like you could’ve answered your question just by reading your question.

It depends on how much you care about what the people at the event think of you.

I’m not very sophisticated but I can tell you with probably 100% honesty, if I was at a black tie event and someone wore a black suit, vest, and bow tie, I wouldn’t notice.

It’s unacceptable to show up in boots and ruin the black tie event.

Wear a nice pair of jeans, a white button up with a black bowtie and you will be fine.

Tux is appropriate for black tie, or formal wear...
