I'm an old guy. I've been around to see Pistol Pete, Tommy Casanova and all the great LSU baseball teams of the 90's. There has been plenty disappointment along the way, along with a lot of great memories.

But, for some reason, this latest episode with the BOS and Coach Wade has been the hardest for me to get over. Basketball was fun again and you could see a potential dynasty in the making. It didn't have to come all crashing down like this. All Aleva had to do is trust in his coach and back him, as any boss worth is salt would do.

I know I would not want to work for this man again if I was coach Wade. So sad that the entire LSU fan base must now suffer through another major disappointment.

I'll always love LSU but its getting harder and harder to stay emotionally invested.

Now go ahead and insult away.

Sorry but I appreciate Alleva doing everything he can to keep the program free of sanctions. I don't want Skylar Mays to play his senior year on a team banned from the postseason.

Will Wade had a Scaramucci moment recorded and screwed the program in the process. It was very very stupid regardless of what the "offer" was. He got emotional and ran his mouth.

A bunch of people on this board are ruining LSU sports for me. I get it... I do. I root for my Tigers but damn, some you guys are seriously delusional at times. I hope Some of you learn how to be a realist and more rational in your comments and judgments.

When it is proven that Wade did in fact cheat, will you all still have his back? I wanted this to be real but always questioned how the hell are we getting these guys? This is going to suck when the hammer gets dropped.

For most of us I think this is just the latest frick up in this administration's comedy of errors.

Trent Johnson hire - Fail
Johnny Jones hire - Fail
Miles/Fisher - Fail
Herman/Orgeron -Fail
Fargas extension - Fail
Corporatizing LSU football/tailgating - Fail

Now the Wade fiasco, which is virtually a mirror image of the reaction to the Duke lacrosse scandal.

They've proven time and time again they are completely incompetent. Anyone who has any faith left in this administration is lost.

What if the employee was lying? You know, Wade never did business with Dawkins? How does that sound now? At least in question?

Wade making offers to non-athletes to get athletes to campus? Does that sound like something that is within the rules? Or more like a major NCAA violation?

At what point is an employer justified in questioning a subordinate's ethical lapses?

Of course, here, the employer allowed the employee a chance to explain. The employee refused.

Again, at what point is an employer justified in seeing that backing his employee may be more detrimental to the company than it is worth?

I'll sit back and read.

Nothing short of canceling a program would cause an AD to ruin LSU sports for me.

I stopped getting too close to the program with the embarrassing fb coaching search.

It's probably a mix of how LSU is ran and just getting older and perspective changing.

I heard that it was Alleva's voice talking to the convicted agent and not Wiretap Willy. It is a conspiracy

surely you’re kidding.

Wades on tape buying players, and Wade won’t explain to his boss.

No trust is warranted.

Not at anyplace I ever worked. If a employee created the slightest suspicion that they did something that would violate the rules of a regulatory agency that would endanger licenses or certifications the company needed to operate, they would be put on immediate leave until the situation is sorted out. The World of business is not a court of law, you are absolutely guilty until proven otherwise, and no single employee is more important than the business.

It is not Alleva. I do not care for him either. But this situation is the President and the Board of Supervisors. There was a planned and executed and timed hit piece on WW and LSU basketball. Our leadership choked. Should have just stared them down.

It's like Aleva finds the best pieces of the LSU experience, or potential success, and he puts a dagger in it . I swear the man does not give 2 shits about LSU, and especially not about tradition or fans. He is a cancer to the University and he reports to an even worse Cancer.

All Wade had to do was demonstrate he was worthy of trust by declaring his total and complete innocence.
Further, managers and leaders support folks when they are right or when evidence is on the side that they did the right thing. They suspend, discipline or fire those who put the company, organization etc at risk.
The Harvard Business Review, a respected management periodical, once did a piece on "The Tempermental Talent" which discussed handling a talented but difficult employee. As you might expect, there comes a point where you might have to take the extraordinary step of severing your relationship. This obviously is a classic risk-benefit analysis.
We really don't know the details but it's hard to blindly back Wade, even given the current state of LSU's leadership.
