Well the Lakers offer just got a lot worse/more risky. Ingram was diagnosed with DVT in his arm. Could be a one off thing, but if he develops another one, he’d likely get put on blood thinners and have to be shut down like Bosh.

Yep that’s the same thing Chris Bosh has in his legs. Could be career ending. Trade value is greatly impacted by this. I pray for the young man as this could mean a lot of things and they really need to look into why he has this, to make sure he doesn’t have cancer first and foremost.

Man, that’s a huge bummer. One thing I’ve actually liked about the Lakers is that they’re young core seems to be mentally tougher than most of the vets on that team.

A true Pelican would have waited until we traded for him to break.

Think this all but assures AD won't be playing with Leturd next year, and I'm very happy about that. Well unless the Lakeshow hits the lotto, about the only way...

I actually liked Ingram and am somewhat sad to hear this. I still think the Pelicans would have ultimately taken the Celtics offer no matter what. But that just sucks for him

How about LeBron and their first for AD.

Seems about right.

for as much of a hard time we give the Lakers, this is pretty sad & scary for him. Good news is he is young and healthy so there is less risk of serious complications. wishing the best for the kid

I have nothing against Ingram and wish him the best. I think he can be an excellent player even if not there yet, but it would be really risky to trade for him or sign him to a long term contract now. If he gets a second episode of this a year or two from now, his team would be screwed.

A Lakers fan friend of mine had something interesting to say in reaction to this.

quote:

The Lakers have had some bad luck with injuries, but a super underreported story (nationally) is that Gary Vitti, their longtime trainer retired 3 years ago, & their training staff has suffered mightily since Magic & Pelinka took over. Vitti used to be there in an unofficial capacity, but he hasn't been seen since they took over. Their big hire for the training staff was a guy who is best known for being a celebrity trainer with no actual team experience.

You have to wonder how big a negative effect that can have on their FA pursuits.

Seattle Lakers?

Shot at the organization/fans. No ill will towards Ingram at all. Scarier than your average sports injury.

Sounds like there is finally a team with a worse medical staff than us.

Basically we're fricked if NYK doesn't get a top 2 pick.

This has nothing to do with the athletic trainer.

I think this actually hurts our future trade because 1) absolutely wouldn't trade for Ingram now and 2) probably easier for NYK/BOS to lowball us with the Lakers' offer weakened.

Im scan we're about to be fricked because nyk gets like the 4th or 5th pick, Raptors say we're not trading Siakam if there's any chance we AD leaves in FA and Kyrie leaves Boston.

I feel a nightmare scenario coming. We NEEDED LA to still be players this summer. Their best trade piece may have just become their worst.

The pels were probably never gonna trade him to the lakers

Other teams will get in on the bidding

Pulling for Ingram though

If a big Free Agent like Kawai or Klay sign with LA, can they even sign AD the following summer if he isn't traded?

Honestly, if I'm a big name FA and want to move to LA, I really don't know how you pick the Lakers over the Clippers at this point except for irrational allure of a historical legacy long gone and rose tinted glasses over Lebron?

I don't know if it's irrational. It's definitely "sexier" to say you're a star for the Lakers rather than Clippers. Same with Knicks/Nets, Cubs/White Sox, Giants/Jets. They're definitely the lesser organization right now though.
