I'm Baptist and have been around A LOT of Baptists my whole life. I've never met a Baptist that professes to hate Catholics.
I have a great aunt who is devout Catholic and she has a grandson who got divorced, met a girl who was Baptist. They ended up getting married and he converted to Baptist. Great aunt went to their Baptist service this past Christmas because his kids were doing something..
Maybe in the choir or something.. And she said it was a nice service, but she was disappointed because the pastor mentioned something about Catholics and how something Catholics do isn't the right way.
Now is a good chance she misunderstood, but the grandson's mom (aunt's daughter) swears that she attended a few services with them and she was disappointed she was because she felt there was an anti-Catholic message in the message.
Honestly, I think there is a good chance both misinterpreted what they heard, but I do know Baptist don't agree with Catholics praying to statues (I am not sure why that is a big deal to those Baptist who feel that way. It seems obvious that it's about what the statues represent).

I worked in the kitchen at CCLA back in ‘87 and carved the prime rib for diners at the end of the buffet line every Sunday. He always came through with his entourage every Sunday after his service.
Never once did I get a “God bless you” from him.
Oh yeah. He did bring his cousin Jerry Lee along once.

He has a great voice. "Its beginning to rain" is one of the greatest hymns of all time and he killed it. JS Swaggart glory days. Could have been a great country music singer.
Very talented guy - underappreciated by most of us bc of the scandals. Probably a top 3 televangelist in history as far as entertainment / singing / storytelling. I liked that fake cry he did

JSwag, Mickey Gilley, & Jerry Lee Lewis were all related to each other, and more importantly my grandmother.

Debbie?
Pretty sure Donnie has only been married once.

Most Baptists do, the ironic thing is Catholics don't give a damn and it just pisses the Baptists off even more.
I laugh at any religion that uses fricking powerpoint during the service.

I worked at his gym there on his campus. I think it was called Ketchum? Archaic place. They had no clue who were members, who paid their bills, etc.

I know someone that works for an assisted living facility in the area. They still get calls about once per week from people all over the country looking to move to Baton Rouge because they felt a calling and need to live closer to Brother Jimmy.

I don’t have any about Jimmy himself, but I told this story here before. Someone I know became part of "brother Jimmy's" church. He was going to the school there and was really involved.
One day he stops by to "visit" and tells me that he has turned his life around and that he is part of the church blah blah blah and how good things are going. A few days later he came back and started the whole "hey you should come with me to one of his services". At first, I was just bullshitting him and told him "yeah maybe one day"...
So he got aggressive after that, the next day he came over and brought me CDs of "brother jimmy's" teaching and his music. He waited several days. In fact I really forgot about it and really didn't know at the time that he had an agenda.
Then he came back maybe a week later. I had music on at my house, some hip hop shite.. A lot of cussing. And he asked me if I listened to the CDs and I told him no (this was around the time downloading music was still new). Then he was like "you are listening to that kind of music but can't find time to listen to something that can save your soul?". He started going on about getting saved, blah blah blah. And that's when I realized that he was trying to get me sucked into his church.
I was direct with him. I told him "look, I respect whatever beliefs you have, but it's not my beliefs and that I don't have problems being friends, but I am not going to your church". He told me the something like "god bless your soul. I will pray that you one day get saved".
It seems like they have a format to recruiting people. They start off by getting the idea in your head, then eventually get to the whole "you will not go to heaven if you do not get saved" bullshite. What's sad is that so many people buy into it.

Why do you put visit in quotes?

TEAM 1- St. Peter is one of the apostles who started this religion after Christ died and was resurrected.
TEAM 2- Jimmy started this church and is related to the good ole boys Jerry Lee, Mickey Gilley and has a son named Donnie. He can tinkle a few songs on the pianer and wants all of your money.
Yep, I bet there is an anti Catholic message in his faux services. He can also heal you and talk in tongues if the price is right.

I worked at the A&P at Jefferson and Lobdell (where Goodwood Hardware is now). JS wife would shop there often. Would come in with all her jewelry frequently. I remember a diamond ring that is still the largest I have ever seen - round cut and over 1/2 inch across. She was always dripping in jewelry and gold. I knew back then the guy had figured how to make money as a church. This was before he was caught "changing a tire" or had bought all the land for Jimmy S U.
What a piece of work.
