you read it. we will do red beans on monday, probably a ball, and go with a krewe on mardi gras day. Look for a group of crows, and that is us. Should be about 20 crows.

But I don't really hit that many of the truck parades. We leave on Weds. And the only truck parade we will definitely hit is Muses,

I'm confused as to what you mean by truck parades? In my world, a truck parade is just that. 18 wheelers with trailers that the riders hand decorate.

You have no idea what a truck parade is, Muses is not a truck parade.

I love that Mardi Gras today is more progressive, and more open for non-natives to participate and enjoy, but calling Muses a truck parade falls into all of the stereotypes of transplants and visitors who live here for a few years and think their experience is so much cooler and more authentic than everyone elses.

No bruh. Brian Kern and his little sister were my friends growing up and I went to boarding school with them. I get Mardi Gras. I went to my first Mardi Gras in the 70's, all through college in the 80's etc. But I was specifically talking about being in the crowd on the street like the OP said. I'm not dogging your Krewe. If you want to pay to play dress up like a Broadway Tranny and throw trinkets at bums in the process of simultaneously vomiting and shitting themselves, more power to you man.

Yeah, my bad on calling it a truck parade.

But yeah, I don't think my mardi gras experience is cool or authentic. I like to do two things - dress up in costume and do drugs. that is what my mardi gras will be focused on. if you want to do soemthing different go for it.

I'm cool with this! I will just say there are a lot of people who do this and go to parades every day. Years ago......... we would hang out way uptown on St. Charles with an ice chest, a bunch of weed, and a some Popeyes on a table, wearing costumes, watching parades for 4-5 hours/day over 5 days. Fun times.

Ya gotta admit, Mardi Gras is not everybody's cup of tea for obvious reasons having to do with everybody not being trashy and wanting to play dress up like a Brazilian tranny. It is also crowded and it smells bad. Like a jar of piss mixed with being in a Haitian-Ireland rugby match. But again, you are my boy, so knock yourself right the frick out.

I had a really bad mardi gras experience in 1995, like I never wanted to go to mardi gras again. It involved a lot of LSD, 20 people in a hotel room, and a couple breaking up.

We restarted mardi gras in 2013, and i have to say it has changed so much. We can watch a few parades from my family's porch so that is generally what we do.

I ride in two Mardi Gras parades and then I attend the other festivities on private balconies. If I had to be on the street with the trash and unwashed masses, I would probably think it was terrible. However, my Mardi Gras is always fantastic.

More like rational DGAF. I just never personally enjoyed it, other than the getting drunk with friends part. The crowds negate the fun for me. But I'm all for you having fun like a proper brotard. I hope all of you party like Boy Band members at a gay bath house.
