He's sorta right. It was interference.

Well he’s wrong if they think the hand through the basket shook the rim/glass. Also he, Cal, and the fat UK belle fan on SEC rant can STTDB

So, by his account, when a shot is in the air, it's perfectly fine to jump up and hit the rim and backboard to make the whole thing shake.

Sounds like a great new defensive strategy.

He's flat out wrong. One Kentucky player hits the rim, the other slaps the backboard causing the entire goal to shake. You can't say that "didn't alter the outcome of the shot."

He's right, but he's clearly ignoring the way basketball has been officiated for decades. That's rarely called offensive interference as the ball is partially out and on the way out.

Watch it slowed down it’s coming out of the cylinder

In order for it to be goaltending the refs have to determine that the ball had a chance to score, right? The ball was clearly on its way toward the free-throw line

To me, the rule reads as though it would have been goaltending if the ball was touching the rim.

quote:

2. Touches the ball while any part of it is within the cylinder that has the ring as its lower base;

Since the ring sets the lowest part of the cylinder, it would always basket interference...so why word it that way unless it makes a difference if the ball has bounced off the rim?

He is very wrong. The UK player disrupted the shot by causing the goal to vibrate. It was 2 pts at that moment. UK can claim they should have had a possession with .8 seconds left as their best response. There is no reason to call interference or goaltending on LSU.

UK went over the back the possession before that should have had LSU at the line for two. It’s easy to play this game.

I think before tweeting out to the multitudes about the final shot and acting like “Joe Expert,” I’d learn the difference between goaltending and basket interference.

The ball was on the backboard which is part of the rule as well...he missed that one. If you hit the net and rim you're clearly vibrating the goal which can alter a shot off the backboard. It doesn't have to be within the cylinder only.

Ask me how many fricks I give?

LSU is 10-1 in SEC play, and just beat Kentucky on the road.

You can break a basketball game down play by play and probably find a wrong call/bad no call in 50% of them. We won. When I wake up tomorrow, we will have still won. When it comes times to selecting seeds for the NCAA tourney, it will still be a win.

I didn't get to watch live, but it seems like every basketball game I watch there is a play like that that isn't called. So maybe it was interference, but seems to be one of those that is allowed.

Well, we can all trust a NFL ref!

Kentucky player shook the whole backboard by slapping it. That IS goaltending. Tip in was in the cylinder but that was a moot call because the basket already should have counted. So two missed calls cancel each other out. LSU wins!

I don’t know if it was a good call or bad call, but I do know the 2 announcers that watch a lot more basketball than me said that the basket should stand in their opinion.
