Rouses isn't worth an eight mile drive.

Hahahahaha you rouses haters are comical. A true bunch of dramatic teenagers

They still mad because Rouses's bought out LeBlanc's, and they can't hang with Calvin's and Calandro's.

That spot has been an eye soar for years and needed something to move in. Glad it’s a rouses

Publix is arguably the standard grocery store in Atlanta so I'm not sure it's really worth considering higher end anymore.
I don't really notice much of a price difference anywhere unless it's like a Super Wal Mart which I don't use. Kroger may be a little cheaper but I don't think it's noticeable.
I always thought Rouses was like an HEB-level store but sounds like it's a pretty regular place too?

Depends where you are, but no, it's not like HEB. The ones I've been to in new orleans and Lafayette are nice. Like a nice Kroger.

Tell your boss to stop taking his allotment of the good bourbon for himself.

46 mile round trip during peak season in destin traffic, see ya in 12 hours, better head that way at daylight so you can be back to go to dinner with your family, ahh, no thanks...

It's worth the 23 mile drive. There's a nice selection of grocery items and the meats and liquor selection are very good.
My shopping options would have to be really bad to drive 23 miles to go to Rouses. I don't find their specialty meat items anything to write home about.

I don't think I could point out one above average thing about Rouses. The love on here is confusing.

IMO, a good Rouses is definitely better than a good Publix. I still wouldn't drive 23 miles though.
What I would do is if 'I just happen to be going that way maybe' take a cooler along and stock up on some things.

I think the larger model Kroger are much nicer than any Publix. They are putting beer and wine bars in most of the new ones.

I don't have any issues with Rouses. The produce department at the Mid-City store is big and well stocked, plus they sell a lot of locally grown stuff when in season.
I've not had a bad product from their in-store bakery and the deli department offers a large selection of meats and cheeses.
They run frequent sales for bulk items like chicken leg quarters, split chicken breasts, Boston Butts 2 to a pack, country ribs that are great for tossing on the pit, and their store brand sausage is also pretty good from the ones I've eaten.

Rouse's has taken a downturn recently. I've noticed that they now have started their own brand with various canned goods, and have discontinued some premium brands that offer the same items. Their canned items are cheap, but the quality reflects that.
Other issue is with the scans at checkout. Frequently is rings at a higher price than what was advertised. Problem is that in NO, we don't have many other options when it comes to a full service grocer.

And they(Rouses) is very well aware of that.

Over priced everything expect their cheap nasty rouse brand everything. Especially the processed deli meat.
Produce leaves a lot to be desired. The meat prices go way up around holidays when people will be firing up the grill.
We have three of them within a 10 mile area. They’re all the same.
The local IGA has better prices, produce and meat. As a last resort I’d rather go to Walmart.

Best grocery store in Gulf Shores and still has a lot to be desired. Got the pleasure of listening to the manager and a cashier bitch about shitty upper management a couple days ago when I was in there at 7am. So many Ads that they throw half of them away.
