Booing AD = booing Adam Silver and the NBA as far as I'm concerned.

If the league wants to force us to gamble with our top asset, they deserve for us to make it as awkward as possible for everyone involved.

Sucks for AD, but it is what it is.

The hope would be that if we can make it awkward enough, they'll retract the threats levied against us in the event we were to sit him.

All of this...we want to make this situation even worse for the NBA, Silver, AD, Klutch.

Make sure to cheer your asses off for every other Pelican though.

ETA: the fans can't win in this situation. We either don't show up/don't care or voice our displeasure. Expecting us to cheer and support Davis is complete crap.

you dont think other players would understand if the fans boo'd?

how is it classless to boo a guy who is taking up minutes from Pelicans players? dude is a rogue player using the franchise for his own gain.

It will look bad to other players. It SHOULDNT but it will. They won’t look at it like “we really want the minutes to go to players who earned them”.

People just need to be really vocal in supporting the other players to balance it out, especially with the game being on friggin ESPN. Of course it would be on ESPN tonight.

Davis getting hurt is the exact type of ridiculously stupid luck that would happen to this franchise.

Cool. Explain to me the benefit of booing him?

to me, not booing the dude is equivalent to not giving a shite and letting him take a dump on our chest while at the same reaching his incentives and then rolling.

i can see you dont agree and thats fine, but to me not booing is the same as just not giving a shite about the situation and letting this dude do whatever the frick he wants. frick that.

You don't understand players.

Their mindset is so COMPLETELY different than fans it takes effort to think about it.

I'm guessing you're an NBA player? Or know several well?

Not even remotely.

But once you read enough about the game enough and hear players comments on situations you begin to understand. And I've heard many of them say they just don't think the same way as fans.

Most of them likely don't think AD did much wrong.

I'm going to be there, I don't plan on booing. This will probably be the last time I see him in person...in a pels jersey

frick it. Let's go on an unprecedented tear and make the playoffs. We arent getting a top 3 pick so what's the point if AD is gonna play?

I'm rooting for this. It will be awkward to go streaking with AD, but this team has played hard in the past few weeks. I'd rather see us play well and get the wins. Winning cures everything, so you never know. I think Jah starting with AD should produce wins. Get Moore and Payton back as well and it could be something good. But Gentry has to keep playing Frank, Stanley and KWill.

I don't blame AD for wanting out,

I don't either, but I blame him for not being a leader and trying to get players to join him; instead of being just a follower and going where it's easy.

But I think it will be a really bad look nationally

No secure person should care what idiots around the country think of them for booing at a sporting event.

quote:

I know people don't care and will boo him regardless.

They should. It's the most peaceful way to show displeasure at something. People want to call it trashy? Trashy would be throwing stuff on the court, vandalizing his property, yell racial slurs, etc. Booing is the opposite of clapping. Fans show displeasure for a product they paid for. Can't even be remotely mad at that.

quote:

But I kind of hope we can handle it with a bit more class.

Yeah, we should cheer the person who just gave a middle finger to the franchise. frick that.

Who cares?

I don’t remember the last good player the Pels attracted via free agency, even with legit superstar players.

Look I hate booing but this warrants it. You want to be traded, fine. You want to force your way to play after not getting traded? Screw that

"He just wants to win" is what they're thinking. Jrue said AD was 90% of the reason he stayed and he's pretty much waiting to see what direction the team goes. If the Pels get Tatum/Smart back he'll be happy, if a bunch of kids come back from the Knicks Jrue will probably ask to be traded and he should.

ETA right on cue a quote from Jrue showing the disconnect.

quote:

Jim Eichenhofer @Jim_Eichenhofer 1 minute ago

Jrue Holiday, asked if it's going to be awkward having a player suit up for #Pelicans who has publicly said he doesn't want to be on the team: "It definitely is different. I wouldn’t necessarily say he doesn’t want to be here. He just doesn’t want to sign back."

Exactly. Players just don’t see it like us.

Trust me. I’m mad at him.

I just think it would be better, cooler and more “effective” if we Nothinged him. No cheers. Silence. Every great thing he does. Nothing.

When another player is announced or does something cheer like crazy.

If he does get booed, I can't wait to see the LeBron Instagram post that will ensue. I'm guessing at least 5 paragraphs.

If everyone stood and clapped him one more time that would be super classy. I hope this happens
