Orgeron has done a very good job so far with recruiting this year, but some of his pumpers have gotten ridiculous with how much they are trying to glorify his success to this point. While the statement that he is solidifying the trenches is partially true that is dependent on the DL he signs to close.

In Miles' last 3 years, he finished #2 (2014), #5 (2015), and #2 (2016).

Hell, the 2016 year was pre-early signing period and in the midst of Miles supposedly being fired after having been carried off the field with the win over A&M.

Orgeron is currently at #6 in a year where Louisiana has 4 top 100 players and 12 top 250 players. I'd hope he'd finish in the top 5 with that leverage. He's recruiting fine, but he's no better than Miles and as of right now even with a top 2 class will average a rank of #8.5 in his first two full years according to 247sports while Miles averaged a rank of #3 in his last 3 full years.

This trend has to continue and it is a positive, but lets not act like he's done something special here that is unique and above and beyond.

Miles has been gone for over 2 years. I think it's time to move past it.

So, why shouldn't people be happy again?

We need some LOS beef but I’m not gonna shite on their efforts. One guy’s family memebers got jobs. We’re trying to pull another away from the sleazy barber. Maybe this weekend can bring some magic. I never thought we’d get Ika. That being said, I’m freakin over it. Wednesday can’t be over any sooner.

Miles always loaded up with skill players and neglected the trenches. In reality, a #8 class that is well balanced is better than a #3 class that’s heavily weighted in skill players. It’s all about need.

In the star rating system one player can make difference in rank. I'm not going to knock Miles but he sometimes failed to address need and the three years you mentioned are examples. LSU's OL and DL weren't what they once were. Why can't you be happy? And, it isn't over yet. COach O and company have their sights set on some great FB players of need. They may or may not land them all, let's wait to pass judgement.

Well we were at #3 last week before the updates with the exact same players.

We will be top 5, likely top 3 after we sign 25, which we will.

I think you are using this small window of opportunity to diminish this years class

The issue was not that Miles couldn't recruit, but rather what he recruited. Prior to Oregeron taking over Les Miles had more scholarship kickers than Linebackers on the roster. That is bad roster management.

The talent Miles brought in was heavy heavy skill positions. Many of whom did not contribute at the level they were rated. Miles left us with more kickers than linebackers. And 9 offensive lineman. Miles left us way behind Bama on the line of scrimmage and QBs. Was Brandon Harris really a 4 star. Was Malachi Dupre really a five star.

Orgeron has executed roster management far better than Miles

This is the issue. Pure and simple. We paid an extravagant buyout to make a lateral move. At best.

the narrative last year was that he was a recruiting failure. He's not in unprecedented waters or anything this season, but let's face it, in usual Tigerdroppings fashion, many people jumped the gun.

I think he's done a great job of filling needs. This class has a potential to be special. We'd likely view his recruiting ability a lot differently had one of our best defensive players not been injured in the first game.

The ranking is not as important as the positions you get. Premium for DT, OL and QB.
