When I’m back home in Texas, I get Kiolbassa bacon. Amazing stuff. Great flavor and no water. At all HEBs I think.

Wright's is my go-to for store bought bacon around here.

The king of bacon, though, is Benton's. I get it delivered and always keep a couple of pounds in the freezer for when I want REALLY good bacon.

One of the best food days of the year is when really good vine ripened tomatoes start popping up in the stores instead of the hothouse tomatoes we get the rest of the year. I'll get a mess of tomatoes, a fresh jar of Duke's, a head of iceberg, fry up a pound of Benton's and just eat BLTs every meal until I run out of bacon.

You don't even need to refrigerate it. It's salt cured. I would do the same thing though.

It's pretty awesome. You can fry 4 slices and get a half cup of bacon grease.
I use it to season veggies. It's really salty, but that's kinda what you need on a BLT.

Their ham slices or whatever make a great red eye gravy.

Not only is Wright's good, but they were the only one's with brains enough to put it in a resealable package.

Been making my own for a few years now. Probably won't go back to store bought bacon unless I need some in a pinch. I make 20 pounds at a time and it lasts at least six months.

I’ve gotten Benton’s from central market before, it is pretty good. I don’t like hickory as much as applewood or maple but it’s still good quality.

The Great Value brand isn't terrible, a little too fatty compared to the Wrights but still good! Bacon wrapped carrots baws.... That's good stuff

Haven't tried their bacon but they put out some good sausages too. I've tried the polish and the chorizo so far.

The last time I tried Benton’s, I found it too smoky as a stand-alone bacon. But when used as an ingredient with vegetables or soups, it really shined.

I also tried using it when making bacon infused whiskey. It was a no-go. A milder bacon was better suited for whiskey.

I agree. That is why I just finished a build on a cold smoker to use to make my own bacon and other products that are cold smoked.

I've also started making my own sausages in Italian, Hot, Jalapeno/Cheese, Green Onion and Breakfast types. This way I know exactly what is going into what I eat.

Next to try is Boudin and Andouille.

That's what I've been eating for a while now when I eat bacon. Reasonably priced, nice thick strips of bacon and easy to get.

Once I get my smoke box built for my cold smoker, I'll be making my own from now on, but the Kirkland brand is a good one.

MD is right. Bacon is like sex. The worst I ever had was wonderful!

This is the correct answer, this bacon puts all other store brand bacons to shame. They make a good sausage as well

Agreed. Benton's is not something that I'll reach for in the morning if I want to eat bacon out of hand. That's what Wright's is for. For something like a pot of vegetables or a BLT where the bacon is an accompaniment, though, it's excellent. It brings big flavor and seasons the dish well.

We eat wayyy too much bacon.

I have recently started buying the market style bacon from the butcher at fresh market. It's delicious.
