Something to think about...

quote:

How do you react to defeat? Today my social media feeds are filled with nothing but anger and disappointment over the Saints loss in the NFC Championship, about THAT moment, the no-call to end no-calls. Some are even pushing a conspiracy centering on a ref who wasn’t even officiating the game last night. I get it. The missed calls were bogus. The refs blew it. But one photo stood out to me, more than the petitions, the calls to boycott, and even the referee themed voodoo dolls. (only in NOLA, right?) A college friend of mine and major Saints fan Heather Cohen snapped this picture post game. It’s Drew Brees doing what he always does, playing with his kids on the field when most everyone else had gone home to nurse the sting of a heartbreaking loss. Heather said it was an emotional moment, but with his kids playing Brees wasn’t thinking about the game. “Drew was focused on them,” she said. I know that far too often after long, emotionally draining day at work I come home and vent my every frustration to my patiently listening husband. He’s always there to console and happy to do so, but I also know it’s not exactly fair of me to dump that on him. If anyone has a right to be frustrated and upset, it’s Brees. I’m sure he is. I don’t know what was said in the locker room or when he was away from the spotlight. But when it was all over, he focused on his kids and his family, having a moment with them. So again I ask, how do you respond to defeat, frustration, pain? Personally, I hope I respond more like this in the future by remembering what really matters.

There are bad calls in every game, at various times of the game, which can change the outcome of the game. They don't all occur within a few minutes of the end of the game.

Also Drew Brees is a multimillionaire, so that eases the pain.

It’s easy to handle defeat when you’ve made over 100 million playing a game.

No sweat because he realized it was fixed from the beginning.

Drew will never have to work at a real job as long as he lives. This time next week he'll probably be in Fiji with his hot wife. A lot of people who take these things so hard use the Saints (or LSU, or insert the name of any team) as diversion from their own drab, or sometimes downright shitty, existence. Yeah, they lack perspective. But I won't criticise them for it.
