Same at the Safeway by me. They also have TVs in the bar area and are right next to alcohol section of store. Even have happy hour specials there. I always see people sitting at the bar whenever I shop there.

I would be happy if our local Winn Dixie just upped its beer game, I couldn’t even fathom a taproom inside the store.

I didn't know Winn Dixie was still around. All of them around here went out years ago.

the Piggly Wiggly stores in Bham are doing the same thing, have been for a while

they sell by the 1/4 or 1/2 gallon; all craft brews and as many local brews as they can

they use plastic milk jugs, but also sell a reusable glass container with their logo

samples on Thursday nights at the one near my house

it's awesome

they are part of Southeastern Grocers, the same group that owns Bi-Lo

still pisses me off that we do not have Kroger in Bham, Publix is OK, but I still miss the deli & bakery that Kroger offers up in nicer areas (the Krogers in Buckhead and Belle Meade in Atl & Nash are far superior to anything I have ever seen at any Publix, even the nice ones in Jax & Ft Lauderdale)

Schwegmann's had been doing this since the 1950s. That's how husbands started going to the grocery.

I live right by that one. They’re trying hard to revitalize it but there’s a Publix and a Luckys less than a quarter mile down the street. There’s a marked difference in ummm...the “quality” of customers at the Winn Dixie.

I hope they can turn it around though.

You can also shop with a beer at Luckys and another nearby store called Native Sun. It’s not really new here.

This particular WD is being killed off by Luckys and Publix down the road. Pretty sure that’s where they got the idea.

WD has rep of being where the low income people shop so they have some work cut out for them if they wanna go toe to toe with Luckys.

First job at 16 was at Winn-Dixie. Bagged groceries in real paper bags.

We have this at a Safeway in downtown Portland that stays open until 1AM and I swear, that tap room is one of the more crowded bars in the city. It's really funny.

During the day when sports are on there's a lot of guys in there having a beer while their wife shops. The managers of the place do a great job of having different games on about 8 different TV's during college football season.

There's more than just Safeway doing it in PDX.

Eta....thats the Safeway at the bottom of a "high" rise building, right?

Used to shop there 20 years ago before when it was just a Safeway taking up all that space.
