Seriously. It's a lose/lose for the U.S. to have it. The days of needing it as a war prize from Spain are long over. Spain is a failed state, Puerto Rico is a failed state. They belong together again.

Seems like a one-way street to me.

Someone more familiar with them will have to tell me what we get from them that we desperately need.

Maybe fruit?

Not anymore. When the Hurricane hit it also took away its strategic importance which is that of a pharma manufacturing hub.

Nope.

I think Spain gave it to us and said “no backsies” when we got the Phillipines and Cuba from them.

Not me. There are already enough pointy shoes and switchblade in the cities as it is.

PR should either be admitted as a state, or cut loose as an independent country.

Their status as it stands is not sustainable forever.

While I can understand those saying NO, I do appreciate US Virgin Islands being a territory. Living here would be impossible without some oversight. Corruption would turn this place into Shithole Islands. PR is even more corrupt 5han USVI.

Also thanks to all the US linemen helping to get power back up. It took 3 months, but without their help, along with President Trump's, we would still be a dark and lawless place.

No, I think territories are antiquated and they need new legal status, but I don’t think that’s statehood. A measured path where they hit many benchmarks to show accountability would be best. That place is too corrupt.

no, the longer they stay a territory the closer they are to statehood and we do not need another socialist shithole of non-english speakers in the mix.

there is no benefit.
