The correct answer is New Mexico. Port Au Prince Haiti is more functional in some respects than Albuquerque, New Mexico

I've never driven through Albuquerque, but outside of Santa Fe, every town I drove through in that state looked like the third world. It made the depressing small towns in the Louisiana/Mississippi delta look prosperous. Santa Fe was absolutely delightful, though.

no mention of Mississippi? You don't get to be last in almost every objective category and make it outside the top 3.

That would be my choice as well.

Has West Virginia been mentioned? People are still holding out hope the coal towns of yester year come back...

First of all, only one of those three is a state.

Second, you’re an idiot

Any list without Illinois is invalid.

-It’s got $250 billion in unfunded pension liabilities
-It’s losing population along with other world class locales like West Virginia and Mississippi
-It’s got one of the highest tax burdens in the country

Despite the above, on the new Governor’s first day, he signed on for $415 million in raises for state workers and stated there would be no pension reform.

It’s totally F’d.

If the state is anywhere near as backwoods and fricked up as its football fans, I’d have to say Alabama.

Anyone paying 600k to actually live in Mississippi is an idiot.
You ever drive Scenic Drive in Pass Christian?

1.25 hours from NOLA, zero crime, mild winters, and St. Stanislaus 10 minutes away.

Unfortunately $600k won’t touch them.

Double that and up.

c. 1840, 5,300 sq feet $1.2 mil.

c. 1905, 3,600 sq feet $1.1 mil

c. 1855, 6,500 sq feet, $3.3 mil

tl/dr: Don’t make generalizations, I ALWAYS say.

What a weird result. I can't see how this makes any sense at all.

Been a longtime resident and just moved to Houston... people are starting to notice just how fricked up Louisiana really is( evidenced by the numerous threads on subject matter)....glad i moved on to a place with more opportunity, a robust economy, and a brighter future.

Yeah but you still live in Mississippi with its shite brown water on the coast. So what if you have a nice house...you are still in a horrible state.

No major metro areas. No pretty beaches. Not even professional sports wants anything to do with the state.

Mississippi has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Unless you like to hunt or fish...why would anyone from out of state want to visit?

At least people from all over the world flock to Louisiana to visit New Orleans. What are people all over the world gonna visit in Mississippi?
