They recast Rhodie because T. Howard was making an absolute arse of himself and demanding more $$$$. If he hadn't been such a PITA, he'd have been back. He actually did a good job in the role.

I thought I read somewhere than Howard actually got paid more for Iron Man than RDJ.

I'd say casting Natalie Portman was a bad choice. Any time one of these franchises tries to go for that "Oscar winning" person I feel they are a bad fit. (ie Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique). This is the main reason I'm concerned about Brie Larson. But it at least seems that Brie really wants to do this character right rather than just phoning it in. Time will tell

Terrence Howard:
quote:

"We did a three-picture deal, so that means that you did the deal ahead of time. It was going to be a certain amount for the first one, a certain amount for the second one, a certain amount for the third. They came to me with the second and said, 'Look, we will pay you one-eighth of what we contractually had for you, because we think the second one will be successful with or without you.' And I called my friend - that I helped get the first job - and he didn't call me back for three months."
quote:

A day later, Showbizcafe.com's Tony Rico appeared on NBC's Today and provided the monetary amounts Howard was referring to. Essentially, rather than pay Howard the $8 million for Iron Man 2 per his contract, they offered him $1 million instead. According to Howard, the money promised to him went to Robert Downey Jr. instead.

ScreenRant

And supposedly they tried to get Mickey Roarke on the cheap as well:
quote:

$250,000 – Initial salary offer to Mickey Rourke to play the villain. Rourke only signed on when Marvel raised the offer. Terrence Howard did not reprise his role from the first movie in part because Marvel reportedly proposed a 50-80% pay cut from his Iron Man salary. Favreau also negotiated for months to find the right salary to return. Jackson publicly wondered if he would return: “There was a huge kind of negotiation that broke down. I don’t know. Maybe I won’t be Nick Fury. Maybe somebody else will be Nick Fury or maybe Nick Fury won’t be in it. There seems to be an economic crisis in the Marvel Comics world so [they’re saying to me], ‘We’re not making that deal.'”

Considering that every rumor out there has Emily Blunt playing Susan Storm once the MCU adds the Fantastic Four, I doubt it.

im not saying Marvel didnt try to cheap out, but i know Terrence is a egotistical asscock. So he wasnt as calm and collected going by his contract like he says in that interview. I mean if he was in contract with them, he would have gotten paid..... but he didnt. there fore that 3 movie deal contract, didnt exist.

I have never watched Hook. The Peter pan story never appealed to me. But yes, I've probably been in love with Gwyneth since puberty.

Norton was a great fit for the Hulk. Ruffalo seems more like a employee at a book store than genius scientist willing to experiment on himself.

If I remember correctly, she turned them down again for the role of Captain Marvel.

Pretty sure it was scheduling conflicts both times.

Don Cheadle looks completely out of place, IMO. Terrible casting.

speculation that in End Game we are gonna get some version of World Breaker Hulk.

would be legit.

Not a Jeremey Renner fan for Hawkeye, nor Sebastian Stan for Winter Soldier.

Guy Pierce was pretty bad in whichever Iron Man movie that was, but so was Mickey Rourke. (Not Topher Grace bad, but pretty bad). Also I don't like Natalie Portman.

As annoying as Gwyneth Paltrow is in real life, she is a gorgeous woman. And is a great Pepper to RDJ's Tony.

Cheadle is terrible. Talks and acts like a weakling
ScarJo isn’t far behind. Acts like she’s stupid. No instincts at all

Jensen Ackles also auditioned for that role. I wouldn't mind seeing him though I don't have a problem with Renner either.
