We're heading to New York this June. We are big fans of Bobby Flay and wanted to eat at Gato or Mesa in New York while there. Has anyone eaten there or any of his places? If so, any insight? Thanks

I ate at his Mesa Grill in the Bahamas. I remember it being good but not blown away. I was pretty drunk though so who knows.

If you are in New York there are so many other choices, i'd probably go elsewhere.

I’ve been to both and bar Americain in NYC. I think bar Americain and Mesa are both closed now.

Have no complaints with any of them. It’s nothing that is going to blow you away but it’s good food nonetheless.

Hit up one of Frank Prisinzanos retaurants for some dank Italian food. He owns Frank, Supper and Lil Frankie’s. I prefer Frank, it’s a total hole in the wall and only takes cash. Do what you will with that information.

I’ve eaten at Mesa Grill in NYC (like CB said, it’s closed) and Vegas, enjoyed both a lot. Mesa’s not a fine dining experience at all...if you go in expecting Le Bernardin or August, that’s not the experience you’re going to get. It’s casual, but a good meal.

Our bartender at a nice place here in Chicago used to work at his original restaurant in nyc. Said he's a huge a-hole but his wife was super nice.

I’ve never eaten at a Bobby Flay restaurant. But I’ve beem to da’ Bobby Hebert’s Cajun Cannon restaurant. If I could, might I suggest da Cannon Burger?

And if that doesn’t step up and plug da’ gap, coming in for farth and shart yardage situations, may we present to you duh Cajun Cannon Redfish wit da creamy and velvuty rotel an velveeta cream sauce. Dat stuff’s tuh die far Deke

quote:

Cajun Cannon provides the perfect blend of comfort and luxury, but that doesn’t mean you need reservations and a jacket for dinner. Bobby wants everyone to feel welcome, whether you prefer wing tips or flip-flops. So if you are coming straight from the office or bumming around on the weekend, Bobby has a seat for you. A banquet room is also available for private events.

Who dat!

What’s amazing is I pass the place regularly and it’s stuffed to the gills.

Running 50 commercials a day on 100.3 ESPN must be paying off.

I've eaten at Mesa Grill in New York once and his Mesa Grill location in Las Vegas (Caesar's) twice, on back to back nights.

We enjoy(ed) it.

Been to Mesa in Vegas. Went for brunch or lunch can’t remember, it’s really solid, but it’s hard to really be blown away by Mexican.

Better ingredients, big flavors but still Mexican food.

I eat at his burger place in Atl airport sometimes when I’m in that concourse. It’s not bad but I prefer Fly Burger or maybe even Grindhouse.

Ate at Mesa in Vegas and my veal chop was raw in the middle. Seasoning was good on the cooked bits though

I ate at Mesa Grill in Vegas years ago, and it was good, but damn if he doesn't put some sort of chili in every single thing he makes. I think even the desserts had some sort of chili in them.

If I were you I would pass on the Bobby Flay restaurants. Very over rated. Highly recommend Babo, it’s Mario Battal’s first restaurant. It’s very good.

I ate at Gato about a year ago. It was good, not great. Especially for the price. The atmosphere is good tho.

I haven't gone back or had the urge to. Its in a great part of town tho so you can find a bunch of great places to eat down there.
