When most people think about the next generation of game consoles, they're likely imagining what the next Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo console will be. Now, the CEO of the studio that made Project CARS wants you to add another console to your visions of the next-gen: the Mad Box.

Slightly Mad Studios founder and CEO Ian Bell has been talking up the next-generation console on social media for the past week, promising to create the "most powerful console ever built." Bell is shooting for a console that outputs games in 4K and can play virtual reality games at 120 frames per second (90fps per eye) and supports most major VR headsets.

I wonder if they've ever heard of the Neo Geo, Phillips Cd-i, Atari Jaguar, Ouya, etc

It's nice to read about these stop gap consoles as they can sometimes help offer new ideas to the R&D groups focused on building the next Playstation and Xbox consoles though, so yea let them be aggressive in ideas and publicity.

It'll either never release or get lost with the release of the next Playstation/Xbox console.

The 3DO was $700 when it came out in 93.

At what point do you just buy a stacked PC instead?

The Neo Geo was super expensive as well. The games were $200. It was the first system to replicate arcade quality graphics though.

Should’ve partnered with Soulja Boy.

The only time I ever even saw one was a playable kiosk at a Media Play store in the metro Atlanta area. Wanna say 95-ish. I think the name of the demo was Chaos Control and it was actually kinda neat.

Didn't have a single game I can think of that was worth buying. Even the 3DO and Jaguar had some.

the price of it and actually getting developers to make games for it will be what causes it to fail or succeed

The only sort of new entry into the field that will be any competition will be one that plays games by all competitors without being insanely bulky or require a buttload of attachments.

They had a couple of nice games, and adventure games were good on the system. Even the roller coaster shooter game was fun if you were a kid.

I didn't hate it, it just had no development.

The Zelda games were so dang weird. I had both, haha.

New console,

If someone would design one that could play both PS and Xbox games they would kill the market.
