I really hope everyone gives up and the lease prices drop.

Then I can have a few spots when the hatch number are up and we dont have conditions up north that we have now.

There a few guys shooting but none dumb enough to post about it unless your a guide.

Yea they want to ban hunting over crops but there would be a lot of pissed off people down here who hunt over rice.

FFL: Nah, rice is different. It has to be flooded. Corn doesn't need to be flooded.

The thing I find funniest is they blame DU and USFWS for bad hunting here. It’s not their job to make sure hunting is good in Louisiana. They promote conservation and practice it by creating refuges and paying money for habitat improvement. They support hunting as a factor of conservation. But their goal is to support the species.

FFL: Nah, DU and the Feds are out to screw Louisiana. They built the refuges and plant and flood corn to keep ducks out of Louisiana.

We're in a textbook Louisiana El Nino winter, as forecast; it's mild, and it's WET. Our "fronts" come from the west/Pacific and bring westerly/NW winds for a day then back around to easterly.

My hunting has been terrible, I've killed two ducks in the last 4 hunts, under good conditions at that. This time last year, in same location, we had plenty of birds. There are none this year, and don't see them in any of the usual locations on way out (central La ag land).

FFL is going to say "SEE! They've stopped the birds just like that!" but there is no way over the course of ONE year that suddenly habitat changed in such a magnitude to result in this sort of change. It's simply weather; and it's wet up and down the flyway. Birds are cozy where they're at. When's the last time we had a frost?

By all means, just give up. Need less hunters and pressure anyways.

Yes it's a tough season. Am I hanging it up early? No. I'll be out there grinding away for a few birds while the others give up early and try to enjoy the lack of other hunters in the woods.

Most of the good stuff has enough $$$ that one poor season isn't going to scare them away.

This season will be forgotten when things improve or maybe not.

We did well sunday but it wasn't extraordinary for the spot. Not sure how to post a pic here, two blinds 4 guns(16 birds) & 3 were less desirables 1spoon 2 scaup.

I'm not giving up, but I'm changing locations. Our rice fields have been terrible up until yesterday when we had a halfway decent hunt. My timber hole filled up with water after all of this rain, so I'll be out there early standing next to a tree. I might not shoot a duck, but I'm pumped as hell to stand in some flooded timber for a change. Just the change of scenery will be worth it for me.

I'm holding out till the end. First split was crappy and I know the majority of the birds aren't down yet. Killed birds Monday and Tuesday. Saw more yesterday, mostly mallards, recharged my batteries. Now if it would only stop raining.

There just doesn’t need to be a split during duck season. Just straight hunting November through the middle of January

Actually its Flyway Federation. And I can see some of these folks here only see one side of the discussion that they perpetuate. It's about WAY more than corn in the Midwest. But that's ok those that need to be educated are slowly getting the information from more than one angle. I actually think I'm gonna be in Houma with them if anyone would like to come by and hear more than just "flooded corn" that seem to reverberate on this page. Southern Outdoor Show. Last weekend in January.

Actually we all have said this from the beginning but most have gotten banned from their page because we have stated this exact same thing. There is one guy from the group that post all over Facebook and his only comment is “ flooded corn up north”. I have yet to see where they have any other arguments.

Yeah...refuges, ice eaters, spinning wing decoys, and bashing DU and Delta.

Did I miss anything?

What are ya'll going to do when you can't get rid of the refuges, banning flooded corn doesn't have the effect that ya'll think it will, and DU is still around after all the blown smoke coming from FFL settles?
