If I was single or married with no kids UPT would be where I would look too. If you have kids its hard to argue against Lakeview. Being close to City Park and the lake takes it out of the suburb feeling for me.

It has the lowest crime stats in Orleans parish and it also has highest percentage of young families anywhere in the entire metro area.
I’m walking distance to stores, bars, restaurants, etc. I do enjoy living in Lakeview however I really dislike Orleans parish and would move to Metairie if I left my house. Personally I think the peak of prices has been reached and it will stabilize or go down slightly. There is a ton for sale right now in the area.

By the way... $278 a sq ft to live where the streets are jacked up, is beyond dumb.
I commented about that to a customer of mine that had me build him some custom cabinets for his house and his reply was they liked the streets like that.
He said he and his neighbors felt it was safer for the kids if people couldn't tear down the streets being as messed up as they are and not smoothly paved.

Their sidewalks are fricked up too
My MIL broke both of her elbows tripping on the sidewalk at night walking home from El Gato

Increasing property value due to new houses being built and neighborhood of high earners. Easy access to most parts of the city except Bywater or Carrolton/Riverbend area. Low crime except for theft from unlocked vehicles. walking distance to city park. Near lake front. Expanding Harrison Ave. corridor with shops, restaurants, etc... What's not to like?
you live in Metairie and pay Orleans parish taxes. congrats

Ya. Lakeview is an embarrassing place to call home
Really is shocking home many people get duped into living in certain areas

I just dont see that much upside in lakeview compared to anything in metairie east of the causeway, yet you are paying way more for it
Metairie east of Causeway is just as expensive as Lakeview now.

Lakeview's prices are unsustainable. I wouldn't even consider buying there right now, cause you will be underwater soon
PS: It’s in the Lower Ninth...

I love living in lakeview. Minutes to city park, central to anything in the area, safest area statistically in the GNO area, tons of good restaurants and other young families, plenty of kids for my kids to play with. It’s a little overpriced, but if that keeps the rest of you bitter poors out then it’s fine by me.

I will never understand the want to live in Lakeview. It makes zero sense. I understand paying high dollar for uptown or the quarter, its old school charm with walk-ability and authentic old houses Lakeview is just another modern neighborhood with none of that and you are paying more money than right across the canal to simply have a new orleans mailing address
This is the most hilarious thing I’ve read ever on TD.
Lakeview is by far the most liveable and safe neighborhood in Orleans Parish. It’s the ONLY neighborhood I would live in New Orleans.
There are a lot of new homes since Katrina, but the majority of the homes are still pre-WWII construction.
The houses, community, and charm are a huge upgrade from the ‘across the canal’ in Metairie.

You ever take Economics 101? Is a little term called “supply and demand” and very, very low interest rates. Look it up instead of posting.

And you get to have your car stolen in your own driveway once a year!! Congrats

Is Park Island considered Lakeview?

Disagree. Lakeview is practically the Metairie-lite. You get the pain in the arse of having to drive anywhere you want to go in New Orleans that Metairie has, while still having to pay New Orleans prices and deal with New Orleans petty crime bullshite.

I’d never live in Orleans Parish; but if i did then it’d be Lakeview. I personally can’t stand uptown. Bad streets and too congested. Feels claustrophobic. But Lakeview prices are retarded and there is way too much theft.
