What's the OT's preference here?

Would you take a lateral move or even a slight cut in pay in exchange for a lot more paid time off or do you want the money?

There are always jobs that offer both, fwiw.

If I had to choose, I'd take more money. It means I would be able to go cooler places on my limited time off.

I get plenty of time off, so I'm going with more money.

I'm self-employed. Think about it and tell me the best choice is for me, Wayne.

If that's even your real name.

This. Just started a new job making 20% more AND got an extra week of vacation in the negotiations. Now have 4 weeks plus a week of PTO

It could go either way. You probably need a good break so you could use the extra paid time off. But who's gonna pay you while work isn't being done?

Why wouldn't it be?

What's the difference? Every company I've worked for has called it all PTO.

And I'd go more pay. I have 5 weeks and work from home 3 days a week.

Getting paid lower under PTO is still getting paid low.

Give me more money now.

What do you do? And is your company hiring?

2 weeks of PTO, while standard is not enough for me.

I’ll go with PTO until I get 4-5 weeks then pay

I find that the best people will manage their time appropriately, and will work when they need to. That's why I don't have a PTO benefit. My employee's work when they need to and take off when they need to.

If they don't get the job done, I'll replace them with someone who can, but I have never had to fire someone because they weren't around enough to do their work.

You ask for more pay, then bring additional time-off in during the bargaining.

"I need to make $20,000 over my current salary."
"We can only go to $5,000."
"How about $10,000 and four weeks paid vacation."
Etc.

You don't want to start a new job with minimum vacation time when your initial contract is the easiest time to get extra paid leave.

I get plenty of time off so I'd opt for more money.

So for the first two hours of the day all the W-2s spend their time pooping and drinking coffee. And now I’m to understand this is the crap they then proceed to post about at lunchtime midday? Get back to your cubicle and pretend to work.

I already get four weeks off and have the option to buy more time off.
Show me some more money if I have to choose.
