This will be unpopular, but the initial melts were justified

A lot of "super fans" wanting to take away people's "fan cards" in here...whatever that means. Some posters express their thoughts as the game unfolds (like myself). Some keep to themselves, regardless of how they are feeling. What was obvious yesterday is the Saints came out flat as hell against an inferior opponent when they had everything to play for.

But it didn't start yesterday. This has been three weeks now of an inconsistent and unbalanced offense.

At home vs Atlanta - Brees threw for 171 yards and tossed 4 TDS, which was very good. Kamara would have ran wild on them had Payton fed him more. For whatever reason, he didn't. The Falcons fumbled the ball three times in the red zone, and we benefited from their mistakes. We fizzled out on offense numerous times. It wasn't a great game by us, but it was the Falcons on Thursday, so we took the W and smiled.

Away vs Cowboys - Awful game. Bad as it gets. Brees throws for 127 yards. LSU numbers. Defense plays great. Offense is a wreck. But hey, it happens sometimes. We'll demolish the Bucs.

Away vs Bucs - Played lifeless for basically two and half quarters. Again, Brees looks uncomfortable. We were losing 14-3 at halftime, and promptly turned the ball over to start the half. Brees throws for 201 yards. Another poor showing. We don't even try to run the ball. And then the block happens and it's like a switch turned on, and it was game over.

The point here is the Saints offense has struggled three games in a row now. Maybe that will change when Armstead and Ginn come back (assuming they can stay healthy for the playoff run).

No, I don't believe we should blow things up, or trade Brees, or anything extreme with this team. There are truly troll posts and then there are honest posts about what is currently going down on the field. Football is an emotional game, and the fans (short for fanatic) show emotion because they want their team to win.

But something is off with this team right now. I hope we get it figured out, because we need to go 3-0 to end the year.

Quit trying to justify being a sorry fan. It’s the nfl. It’s not going to all be blowouts. You said stupid comments and have been trying to justify them. Next time don’t melt so fast.

Meh
It just feels like the tigertards from the rant on days like yesterday.

Seems that some posters only come here only when the saints are playing bad and want to pound their chest. It's like some are giddy when the Saints struggle.

I mean yeah. All the "ohhh we told you" takes are ridiculous. It's ok to criticize a team that looked like absolute dog shite in the first half because guess what they did. They bounced back and won. Those aren't mutually exclusive truths.

This isn’t rocket science. You can shut down the Saints O in one of two ways:

Disrupt the O line, and take away Thomas and Kamara.

Cowboys did it. Bucs did it in the first half.

And I’ll suggest the O line part is more us playing poorly than it is their defense playing great. Whiffed blocks all over.

The saints went play a divisional road game and looked sloppy on a wet field. The nfl is full of this kind of parity. Especially in divisional games. Too many of you dont realize this and get too emotional in game. Your expectation of running up 3 td victories every week isnt sustainable. No team has kept that going throughout an entire year. So congrats on trying to justify it, but more times than not it makes most of these gameday posters look like emotional pussies.

Something is off with every nfc team. Even the hot cowboys aren’t exactly lighting the world on fire. If they get jumped on by 10+ no way in hell Dak leads them back.

It's not.

You're arguably the most emotional and unstable poster on this board so it just seems that way

I think it's more about the fact that people are just ridiculously overreacting (as an 11-2 team no less) when we go down by a score or two. Saying the team sucks, Brees sucks and needs to retire, Kamara sucks, the defense sucks, this team is done, etc. Football is 4 quarters, and a miserable half doesn't necessarily mean the game is lost. We saw it firsthand yesterday.

When you are at the top you have a bullseye on your back and get other teams best game. Tampa gave it all they had on D the first half.

Saints D played very well outside that first drive. A lot of those sacks were coverage sacks.

Glad they did not bring the ginger in.

You’re a very reactionary poster, but it’s nothing new.

You were ready to hop off the bandwagon because the offense hadn’t played well in 2 and a half games all without our pro bowl LT.

Teams need to find multiple ways to win in a long season, and the past few weeks it’s been our defense picking up the slack.

Trust that Payton and the offense will figure it out come playoff time and just enjoy the ride.

It’s the every time we give up a 1st down “we are giving up” “fire everybody” “we suck” crowd that gets laughed at on here.

What I saw was a o-line that looked like it had run a marathon before the game even started.
Our guys were getting blown up on the line of scrimmage most of the game.
A week off in the playoffs is going to pay great dividends I think.

As to game day melts there are two types:

"Damn this sucks...c'mon you bums hold the ball...rottin play call coach...he was wide f@cking open jeez."

Not a problem.

And the "F@ck this sh!t trade him...we always suck sell the team...crap why is this guy on the team trade him NOW or just shoot him he sucks yall suck everyone sucks...I told yall week one fire the coaches and trade Brees NOW he sucks the planet sucks Saints are not trying to win but cause me pain cause it all SUCKS!!!."

Screw these types.

I was working during the game, so I couldn't watch (and experience the melt). I kept tabs on it, and saw we were down early, and later won.

It's later in the season. The last two games were road games, one against a team fighting for a playoff spot, the other against a division rival. Those are going to be hard-fought games. Brees isn't going to throw for 300+ every game, even if he averages it.

Yes, there are chinks in the armor, and there's a definite chance that the Saints might have peaked too early. But we've clinched the division with 3 games left, have the best record in the league and the top seed right now. You can't 'melt' about 1st half deficits at this point.

Need:
Armstead etc to get back.
Smith or someone else to become that 2nd WR.
Apple to settle in and play competently as the 2nd corner.

We get this, we should win every playoff game. Note that I don't say every game, since regular season games are different.

The big problem here is no one wants to discuss this team and their performance honestly.

There’s a HUGE difference between doing this and the absolute trash you spewed for two quarters

You acted like a huge bitch yesterday FWIW...

No, these were forced fumbles and a testament to how well our defense is playing. These weren’t “falcon mistakes.”

Yes we played bad versus Dallas, and yes a pretty poor execution in the first half against the Bucs. It definitely felt like a Dallas hangover.

But, it’s better to falter in the regular season, and figure out what the issue is that to start having these problems in the playoffs. We locked up the NFC South, back to back, first time in team history. We’re currently in the number one spot, and yes we all know we need to win out to hold it. Be happy. It’s a great time to be a Saints fan.

The offensive line isn’t healthy right now. The only thing the melts do is show how many pussies are on this board

We are really missing Armstead on the OL.

2 of those games were against division rivals that always play us tough. The third has a legit D, and we played them at night on the road.

The ATL game was on short rest. The Dallas game was on full rest but weird schedule. The TB game was on plenty of rest, with bad field conditions.

This is the NFL. On any day, any team can win. Look at yesterday. NE lost. Pittsburg Lost. Houston lost. Chargers struggled at home.

Yes, the offense has not been at peak performance the last three weeks. It's very hard to maintain that level of performance across a 16 game season.

In no way, shape, or form, does that excuse the stupid, crybaby girl melts we see on here mid-game. It's fine to point out where there are issues. But saying some of the crap that is said on here, is insane and childish.
