Still looking to pop my cherry and knock down my first deer since I'm done with finals now and will have time to hunt. In the past, my uncles who have hunted their entire lives always use rice bran on their lease because they say if you put out corn, by the time you walk back to your stand, the crows have already eaten half of it.

So, what says the OB?

Been having good luck with Nate’s buck bait, a mixture of rice bran, ground up corn, soybeans , flavoring etc

You ride to the area you plan to hunt, drop corn in the preferred shooting space/lane. You turn around and walk back to climb into your stand. After getting yourself settled, you look at the new pile of corn you just dropped to see 6 big arse crows having a Thanksgiving feast.

What doesn't make sense? Or were you just posting that gif hoping to seem funny and get upvotes?

Personally have never seen crows on corn that was put out not saying they don’t just have not seen them. Coons on the other hand will lay on their backs eating while the hoe coons feed them!!!
If you have pigs they will eat both.

I have a camera taking pictures over my corn pile, and as many hours as I spend in the woods, I can say that I’ve not seen a crow in years. But to answer your question- right now deer are on acorns, and the only thing that interest them I can offer is rice bran.

If you have hogs then stay away from corn. We pretty much use rice bran exclusively now. Not saying hogs won't eat rice bran but we've had much better luck since we stopped corn and went to straight rice bran.

Crows are very wary. If they’re eating your corn, just move in your stand or wave your orange at them and they will scatter. Guaranteed

I watched 3 crows tear into a pile on my food plot last Saturday for about 15 minutes. They’re not going to eat the whole damn thing, but they do eat it.

Go to the dollar store and buy the cheapest brand of vanilla coffee creamer. Sprinkle it in your corn or rice bran.

2 entirely different attractants, corn is sugar with very little nutritional value, rice bran and soy beans are protein based and beneficial to deer, deer are hitting the acorns now due to its availability and greater nutritional value, deer will seek out feed that provides the highest beneficial nutritional value with the lowest energy required to eat and digest it, deer will return to rice bran or soy beans after acorns are gone or spoiled then eat corn as a last resort...

OP, putting anything out right now is a waste of time. There is so much feed, the deer don't have to move much. Besides that, bucks are NOT feeding much. To dam busy chasing leg. Once a buck finds some love, he will push her away from other deer and will stay in one area till he pops her. That can be as much as three days.

Not so much crows, but I've had a flock of black birds completely destroy a pile of corn. Had a trail cam on it and got 700 pictures. 90% of which were the black birds. This is the first year I'll be putting corn out in a pretty ltime.

OP needs to hunt deer, not feed piles. If you find the deer and want to enhance the spot, great.

E and M’s Monster mash.

High protein and fat. Easily digestible. I started using this and see way more activity than any other feed. Hogs aren’t as keen to it either.
