no one and i repeat no one is going to try and lure him away, and even if they did, id call his bluff, LSU is his dream job... his staff members are worth more than he is and he must be taught to understand this if he doesnt already know... absolutely no way he deserves or should be offered a raise... he was given a job that he wanted more than anything and that he didnt earn... save that money you would give him a raise with and give it to the next guy when he leaves to recruit a big time successful coach... they only thing i would give him is heavy heavy incentive based contract extension with smaller buyouts... if he goes to the playoff, 2 million one time payment, top 5 recruiting class 500k bonus, fields a top 10 offense 2 million with 1 million going to OC, Aranda, top 10 defense. 1 million $ bonus paid in full Dec 25 every year... Merry Christmas... that is the only contract that he deserves... he was hired on the predication that he would have the top Coordinators in the game and that extra money was to go to them.. period... no changing of that deal...

Sick of this lie. Whichever major school was dumb enough to pay this fraud would be his “dream job”.

We fired Les Miles for the exact same shite...keep excusing and supporting mediocrity. That is all this team is capable of until we hire a competent coach.

He deserves a raise. He works hard and recruits well and is quite simply a great coach. A championship will be won within 2 years. We just need to be patient.

LMMFAO...you need to put down the crack pipe and come back to reality. Ed Bum Orgeron will never win a championship. His decision making is suspect and will cost him several games a year.

Darn instead of being terrible he has been mediocre. That’s so much better than we all thought! Sign him up for life. I wouldn’t want UL or Tech to come steal our mediocre coach away

Its rare that you see a poster shite on his own stance in the same sentence.

Sorry sir, the statement is self consistent. We hired him for peanuts and he has performed "above expectations" hence the raise.

Raises are given for increased performance. We finished last year 3rd in the SEC West and went into the bowl game ranked 17 at 9-3. We finished this year 3rd in the SEC West and are going into the bowl season ranked 11 at 9-3. The only difference is that we are going to an NY6 bowl game that let's be honest, we're pretty lucky to be in considering we lost 2 of our last 4 games.

That's not worthy of a raise. Sorry.

Should be repeated daily in relation to owe.

This. Was. The. Plan.

O brings very little to the table in terms of in game management. The more we rely on him, because we can't go find top assistants because we pay O more and more for 9 wins, the faster this falls apart.

No. Raises are given to insure the employee continues to work for you rather than going to a competitor offering more money.

Even if O went 10-2 or 11-1 this past season, do you think any power conf. school would consider hiring him and paying him more than the $3.5 mill he makes at LSU? If no competitor is looking to "take" your employee, then giving that employee a raise is simply an unnecessary act of bidding against yourself as he would not be able to get that kind of money anywhere else.

Alabama pays Saban what they do not simply as a "reward" for winning national titles, but to make sure a competitor won't steal him away with promises of a higher salary. Tom Herman makes more than Orgeron not because he is necessarily a "better" coach (which is subjective), but because multiple schools (Houston, LSU, Texas, etc.) wanted his services and were willing to pay a premium for it.

If O rattles off multiple SEC Championships and playoff appearances then MAYBE he would have leverage against LSU to negotiate a higher salary. But right now he has ZERO because there is NO OTHER SCHOOL IN AMERICA willing to pay him at or more than what he currently makes at LSU.

He's got 3 years left on his deal, if he puts a complete team on the field in 2019 and improves from 9-3, extend him then. SECE rotation flips to Vandy from UGA, pick up Texas OOC, UF will be better, A&M will probably be better, lets see what happens.

A big one? Not after those zeroes on the home scoreboard against you-know-who-LSU-can't-beat in 2016 and 2018.

The greatest thing Orgeron did thusfar was bring in Burrow.

Considering that we get him for two seasons complete seasons, Orgeron pulled the right strings on this one. We could not expect Les to make the same decision(s). Yeah, he brought in Mettenberger but look how long it took for him to act.

Among a few other decisions, Orgeron gets a large "go tigahs" for that one.

I agree 100%, but Alleva is a lazy SOB, as evidenced by his multiple botched coaching searches. He'd rather just keep extending Orgeron for doing a mediocre job than have to deal with the pressure and headache that comes with a high profile coaching search. Just as Ensminger will likely be Orgeron's undoing, so will Coach O be Alleva's.

Yup, but Hanny made a good point after the Troy loss last year when all of our heads were reeling. He said ADs at LSU typically only get one football HC hire. Of course JA is going to try and extend and put lipstick on a pig and try and build this year up to something it wasn't -- because his tenure at LSU is inextricably linked to O's and he knows it.

This isn't an LSU thing, it's a college football thing. Orgeron is going to get a raise and an extension. People need to accept that, it's just the way things are in college football.

What people are forgetting is that O is overpaid as it is. The fact he was given $3.5 Million/year AND a $12 Million buyout was absurd. Given what he's been afforded salary wise and allowed to pay his buddies and assistants, O in no way deserves a raise. He's already over compensated.

I am a cheerio, and I wouldn't care either way if he got a raise. But, I also don't think he has earned the big contract yet. So, I would support a raise for this upcoming season, and wait another year or 2 before considering a long term contract.

I think he is happy where he is, no one else is trying to hire him, and the fan base is still unconvinced of his abilities. So, even the raise can probably wait too.
