The better question is how is everyone on this board ripped and shredded?

So you're saying that by eating 5000 cal/day you have put on likely 10-15 pounds in fat over....what, probably 3 months? And that is undoubtedly while having a vigorous exercise routine.

And in the same breath, you're trying to argue that 4000 cal/day isn't bad? That 4000 cal/day does not contribute to being a fat arse?

I know it's not sustainable . I'm just trying to pack on as much muscle before I cut fat in the spring. I'm just being intentionally obtuse.

It's all about calorie intake. People are eating too many calories and not exercising.

We're all on the Mingo diet bro.

It's a pretty easy to follow plan. Eat half as much as Mingo eats each day, and you won't be a fat arse.

Whole true, you would probably feel pretty bad as I eat 1400 calories a day

A couple of times a week, I do one meal a day so this is also correct.

IMO, obesity is occurring at unprecedented levels due to a myriad of factors, not one reason. Sugar is not the devil, neither are fats. The truth is much more complicated.

For the vast majority of the population, it boils down to calories. There are a ton of ways to control calories; these are what we call "diets". Keto, low fat, intermittent fasting, macro counting, calorie counting, and everything in between work because when you remove food groups or meals you can more easily reduce caloric intake. Keto has also has a nice effect of muting Ghrelin, the hormone that controls hunger levels. Many people find success as long as they stick with keto. One glaring issue with any diet/WoE is sustainability for that individual... is it something you are willing to do for life?

The compounding factor is exercise, for better or worse. Our society is largely sedentary. Combine that with increasing caloric intake due to increasing average portion sizes and easier access to "hyperpalatable" foods (foods that are high in fat + sugar, making them delicious and very calorie dense) and you have a recipe for disaster.

Always keep in mind that there is a small subset of the population with legitimate issues that cause weight gain and/or hinder weight loss, however.

Wrong. Factor in the time and money it takes to make 1 trip to the grocery store in a week and spend a couple hours prepping to have all of your meals instantly available at a moments notice for the next seven days. Compare that tome to making 14-21 trips or more per week for separate meals on top of cost. Tell me what takes less time

So much of the confusion goes away when you get rid of the fiction of free will. Humans like all animals are energy gathering machines. Our basic programming hasn’t caught up to modern abundance.
