That would be one wild ride but I’d imagine they have some off time and a bunch of them could hold up in their area and trip

I see nothing wrong here. The effects last 8-12 hours. If the person was on leave or had an r&r.
Now if it was ATC or flight controllers doing it, maybe a probelm.
