Yes, there should be more than a lawsuit. This cop was not properly trained or blatantly didn’t follow procedure. It is my understanding that along with knowing the “color of the day” that undercover cops will be wearing they should also know their beat. Or be with a partner that knows the beat. He should know that bar, know who the bouncers are, know what they wear, etc. He fricked up and should suffer the consequences of not being good at his job.

Unfortunately, this is probably a true moment of a non-black cop seeing a black guy with a gun, and assumed he was the one.

how? he had on shite that said he was security there.... and even if by the astronomically small off chance it would have been a guy wearing one of those joke "security" shirts, how did they not figure out, before killing the guy, that he was the good guy in this situation?

this is either the most incompetent, incredibly stupid police force on earth, or it was murder... either way, there is an unjustifiable death, yet again, at the hands of police that one side will say is proof of corruption and the other will say is proof that their job is really hard and has severe consequences sometimes... but lost in all of this, as it always seems, is the FACT that someone lost a son, a father, a brother, etc...

Detective and Veteran here,
I would put my college and high school education against yours any day.
I work with plenty of very intelligent people so screw you for making such a blanket statement. I will agree this is a tragic story and it makes me sick that it occurred, but I will wait to make judgement until more facts come out. Unlike most on this board.

either you are being incredibly empathetic and caring towards this dude's kid, or you are being incredibly condescending and tone deaf, with an ambiguous racial slant...

either way, i would hope for the same for YOUR kids if this were to happen to you, or ANYONE else that dies, wrongly, at the hands of the police... one way or another, we have to get this figured out, to ensure the safety of the innocent, and to ensure our confidence, across the board, in our police... it really would be a win win

Most people on this board (not this particular thread) will wait for more facts. I guess the guy you were responding to has never been around very many police officers. The ones I know and have met are as smart and educated as any other profession. It is pretty stupid assumption that cops are less educated or somehow didn't have other choices.
