This is correct. Also, the copperhead markings, even as a juvenile, are shaped similar to a "hershey kiss" although many times they are connected over the top by a thin band. Cottonmouth markings are more like jagged bands.

OP, although there are copperheads in the BR area, but you're more likely to come across a cottonmouth around here than a copperhead. And that's a juvenile cottonmouth.

Either way, this is why I light up the yard with a bright light if I have to walk in the yard at night. Breaker tripped on MODAD tonight and my first thought was walking to that part of yard and getting a full dose from a juvy
