We live in a society today where people outraged/offended are determined to take out/ruin someones lives.

They post this stuff and run it all over social media for a reason.

It was a dumb thing to post, I don't think it is something her life should be ruined over IMO

This... I'm surprised more people aren't questioning this.

Chances are she just thought it was a cute/funny picture. Honestly if the picture wasn't put into a racial context I probably wouldn't even consider it could have racial undertones.

People love to get offended these days.

Jesus Christ.

Look, I know you have to be aware of what can be taken as racist, even if it isn't meant to be racist at all.. But people should also be aware that in these situations, unless someone points out that it is a race thing, that you can't just up and claim race.. And while they should know this, that obviously doesn't mean anything, but if someone wanted to post something racist I think they would own up to it.

They do it because they want to send some type of message so they own up to why they did it. This girl said that she wasn't aware it was offensive until someone pointed out to her.. She shouldn't have apologized. She just should have said that it had nothing to do with race. Someone brought it up to her and that she understand now, why it was taken as a race issue. No need to apologize.

But for people to suggest expelling her. That's fricking stupid.

If you have a nuse/know how to make one, you know it’s associated with lynching, in particular lynching black ppl. Then you throw a monkey in there.

She’s an idiot. That picture is never disappearing.

Then you don’t know or understand history. It’s rather long and winding.

History is an endless slog of brutality, rape, murder, slavery. You either comquer or are conquered.

You take a part of what i said and run with it. Thats like a chick hearing you say one word in an argument and going off of that. I get the whole conquer thing. And slavery in and of itself. But in AMERICA's history, there was one such event that was very evident and lasting. One that lasted for countless of years seemingly.

What? African-American isn’t a race, to start

American of african decent. Is that better for you? You're a smart person i'm sure so you knew what I meant. Once again, i'm referring to the history here within the states. I know the history of how slavery "occurred" from Africa, but here in the US, the history of slavery for black people is a different ball game. Even after slavery, african americans (american people of african decent or heritage) were demoralized.

i guess you could say she is saving the monkey from being hanged. she is clearly lifting it up so the rope is not tight.

she should be commended.

That situation's a little different than someone hanging a monkey from a noose...

Just saying.

Yeah he took it a certain way, and some people are just like that. But i'm not sure how anything dealing with a noose or its implications in a negative or racial way is or can be laughable. Especially depending geographically where you are/live.

This is the point that I think maybe those who lash out against this stuff miss, even the ones who want to have a reasonable discussion.

Do people think these girls were sitting around an apartment, and got so worked up in their discussions of hating black people that they play-acted a lynching complete with what they felt was the closest representation of a black victim that they could find?

Or is it more likely that the monkey toy had hands so it’s funny to have it grabbing the rope while mimicking a scene from the movie that is showing on the TV in the background? Or that they were just screwing around?

Basically, very few people if any are sitting around getting so worked up about their racial animosity that they act out a lynch scene.

So you’re saying these girls saw this in the goonies??, paused it, grabbed a rope, made a nuse, and replicated that scene.

I have no earthly idea what they did, and no one else does either.

But I’m saying that play acting a lynching of a black person is no where near the top of the list of possibilities, yet people are 100% convinced that it is the only possible explanation. So much so that they want these girls severely punished.

The movie scenario is probably more likely than the racial one. So is a scenario where it represented a boyfriend, or rival, or that the monkey toy had hands and they were making it grab stuff and ended up here. Who the heck knows?

But to immediately ascribe racial intent?

The left is amusing with their passion for being perpetually offended.
