It's possible that whoever the girls told about the sexual assault are "mandated reporters" in which case they are legally bound to report the incident to authorities.
That being said, if it comes back that this was all made up, they should face serious repercussions, IE extended suspension/expulsion. Not sure how you sue a minor for defamation...

To be honest the school did the right thing. Their job is not to investigate an allegation of sexual misconduct and they should be taken seriously. If they didn't call the cops they would be charged as being racist and letting the white boy get away with rape. They did what they're legally required to do in this situation. With that said, frick those girls and their parents. The school will get off (followed procedure) but the girls might get charged.

The claims against the kid sound like they're false but the school administration can't assume that. I'd say they're in the clear. The little girls and their parents will pay hell, though.

They could start with not holding him and questioning him for two hours before calling police and parents..

Nope. Hence my telling my kids to only say “I want my parents” no matter what the situation or the person asking/telling/cajoling/pressuring them otherwise.
