If you spend all your time studying, you’re not out socializing.

theory of multiple intelligences

TL;DR, there are 7 or more kinds of intelligence, among them interpersonal, kinesthetic, musical, etc. Having high intelligence in one area doesn't mean high intelligence in other areas, and in fact such individuals are pretty rare. The brilliant inventor usually doesn't become the successful CEO.

Why does this happen?

People don’t get an maintain a high IQ by spending all of their time developing social skills, they spend that time buried in books

Imagine being in 4th grade and fully understanding, and appreciating, the humor of the Nike memes floating around. If you then telling your 4th grade peers about them, you'd be looked at like a weirdo, but you're just a few years ahead on the intellectual development curve.

Hopefully by late high school or early adulthood it evens itself out and no harm, no foul, no random mass shootings...

So that's why nobody ever talks to me.

Try talking to a chick who only wants to talk about family crap and what her girlfriends do. Someone who is clueless about the news or current events and has no books in the house.

Hard to have decent or long convo's with someone like that.

Work with an aspergers guy. Once I realized the issue it becamw easier to deal with.

It is still funny to hear about his interactions with coworkers.

It's not just women, it's really most people in my experience.

I'm not calling myself brilliant or anything but I simply do not have the will to talk about inane topics, even when these conversations would benefit my acceptance in a particular social setting. I'd feel like a phony.
