Bodacious BBQ at the second Kilgore exit, Hwy 42, going west. Very good joint. Has been for decades.

Lockharts is great and just opened in the new Texas Live development literally 3 weeks ago.

You can walk there from the tailgate are and Jerryworld. Also has a few bars and restaurants. Troy Aikman just opened a massive bar and restaurant i heard its really good.

They also have a Revolver Brewery that just opened next door.

I hope this is a joke. Spring Creek and Dickeys are some of the worst possible places. It's like someone asking for the best burger and you be all like "dude, have you tried McDonalds yet? Killer burger."

In Dallas you'll want to go to Pecan Lodge, Slow Bone, and Lockhart's.

NO NO NO
skip those places and Bartley's
I grew up in Fort Worth, I live about 8 miles north of AT&T stadium. I will be smoking on the Big Green Egg starting Friday

Pecan Lodge in Dallas is where I would go if I was visiting.

These are independently owned and operated. The location that ranked Texas top 10 is the Mobberly Ave location (exit 595 on Estes Pkwy) in Longview. The owner/pitmaster is the former pitmaster from Stanley's in Tyler.

There's a shack off HWY 31 halfway between tyler and kilgore called Pat Gee's. best chop beef in East, TX.

they don't have a lot of selection, but what they do have is better than Country Tavern( which is further down the same road) and sometimes Stanley's(depends on the day).

you're gonna need to put it in your GPS.... 17547 County Rd 26, Tyler, TX 75707

People think they are supposed to say that and they are afraid not to say it’s great. It’s okay but not worth stopping your trip for.

So, out of my dedication to the rant I went and ate lunch there today to try it out.

First off, chop beef sandwich on jalapeno cheese bun combo with baked beans, mac & cheese, a side of jalapenos and a Dr. Pepper was $15.37. So that started it off on the wrong foot.

Mac and cheese was excellent. Baked beans were okay to good. It's a ranch style bean with a sweeter house bbq sauce so it's like half bush's baked bean half ranch style bean in one bowl. Side of jalapenoes was 5 pickled jalapeno slices. At $.75, that's $.15/slice.

The jalapeno and cheese bun was good. Brisket was tender, but super smokey. I like a smoke flavor, but their's is very potent. I can tell I'll be burping smoke flavor the rest of the day.

No fountain drinks. $2 for a 16 oz. Dr. Pepper. I'm a fat arse, so that doesn't work for me.

All in all, it was okay, but too expensive for what you get.

I just got the brisket sandwich (6.50) and potato salad (2.19)...didnt think that was too bad.

I could've done without the potato salad considering the sandwich is like 7in in diameter

I should've just done the regular sandwich. The jap/cheese bun was another $.75 up charge. I guess I had a little sticker shock as I wasn't adding up my order beforehand.

The food in general was overall good.
