The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel - WTF am I missing?

IDGAF about T&A for 8 seconds. The show is an obviously incredibly well-financed and beautifully shot, slow-moving piece of shite. I gave it 1.5 episodes and the only thing I find mildly entertaining is the idea that the club owner seems to have patterned her character in such a way as to make me think she’s channeling a 1940’s version of a misgendered Super Mario. I swear to you I kept looking for a tortoise shell or Toadstool to show up on the scene at the Club to ask her if Luigi could get an earlier time slot or some shite.
Loved Mad Men and similar stuff that isn’t action packed shoot-em-up stuff. But I just feel like I’m waiting for something that won’t ever get there with this one.
What am I missing?

You're an absolute fricking idiot.
I went into this show not knowing what to expect and came out amazed. One of the best shows there is right now. Absolutely a wonderful piece of work. And I've gotten like 5 other people on it.
Maybe give it more than 1.5 episodes.

The show is both a New York Jewish family dramedy and an underdog story with a fight against all odds to become a comic. If that's not your cup of tea there's nothing wrong with that but it won awards because most people disagree with you.

I'm really confused how someone could love Mad Men, but think Mrs. Maisel was too slow.

I refuse to watch this show out of principle for the mere fact that Amazon has shown me the trailer at least 50 times now whenever I try to watch anything.

MMM is loosely based on the life of Joan Rivers. When Rachel B. takes out the twins and says "What man in his right mind would quit these!!" I was hooked.

I watched the first season. It's pretty good. But I kind of don't care about seeing anymore of it.
