Let's discuss oral hygiene: Who here uses a WaterPik or something similar?

I floss daily and care a great deal about my teeth and yesterday my dentist recommended I grab one of these WaterPik's online or at Costco. Said that it feels "dentist clean" after every use and that I'll never need to floss again.

So my question is two-fold:

A. Is that true?

B. Do I have to get the fancy $75 brand name or are there some cheaper competitor brands you can recommend?

Amazon has a number of different makes and models, along with "user reviews..." You can get something for less than that.

If you're not already using a Sonicare toothbrush, start now.

You can also get an attachment for the water pick that will let you cleanse your sinuses. Works much better than the regular neti pot since you actually have some force behind it. A coworker swears by it.

I use one. I think it works great. Just find your setting and get after it. I hated flossing and this seems to be better.

Tried the WaterPik but could never get the same deep clean feel I get from flossing and my Phillips Sonic (also sold at Costco)

No idea about that thing, but I bought this after recommended by my dentist a few years ago, and it's awesome.

The last time I flossed was the last time I was at the dentist, which was probably 2 years ago. I can count the number of times I have flossed my own teeth on 2 hands.

I have one, but don’t really understand the point. I don’t feel like it replaces flossing.

I consider flossing a gigantic fricking chore, so I love the WaterPik I have. It feels like it works just as well, if not better, but I have no empirical evidence for this.

Sonic Care toothbrush + Water Pik have cut my Dentist appointment times in half. The Water Pik can be messy and takes some getting used to, however.

I have one and give it my highest endorsement. It doesn't replace flossing though.

I've used one my whole life. The latest one I bought was a child's size one. You don't need a huge one with multiple attachments with a large water basin.
I had a spot in between my gum and back tooth that became infected. Basically it was a piece of food that worked its way in there. All the dentist did was wash it out with a stream of water. That's what WaterPiks do best. Flossing also removes plaque in between teeth which WaterPiks cannot do. It's best to do both.
