Assume the lineman is 6-7, 340 and is wearing a cup so he can't be kicked in the nuts. He's at least a foot taller with at least a foot reach advantage. Is he so big that he shrugs off anything Bruce can do?

Lee would break the guy's shins and walk away

Before all the Bruce Lee bullshite starts, it is a fact that size beats technique pretty much every time. If a guy is big enough, like the guy you describe, and he gets hold of you... Game Over.

I matched against a guy not much smaller than that at a CQB course and it was all good until he managed to ground me and get on top. There wasn't shite I could do. Frankly, it was fricking terrifying being crushed by someone that big.

If we’re being honest, the NFL lineman would seriously injure Bruce Lee, if not kill him.

If he has some martial training (wrestling) past the takedown of being a football player, he's likely to smother Lee if he gets him...

However, I'll note, Lyoto Machida has a history of 1-shot kick takedowns...and it's likely Lee would have a good kick to a vulnerable area, like the jaw, on the way in.

If you put them in a cage or Octagon, I'm not sure the football player gets to Lee if he's 340...if he's closer to 270...probably so...even Brock Lesner was rung a few times going in in MMA.

I disagree. But I’m skeptical of this whole Bruce Lee was invincible thing.

Bruce Lee was a lot of things, but a fighter ain't one of them.

What's the weight gap that renders technique useless?

I have no doubt he was a good man and a great martial artist, but fighting in a ring is not the same as combat.

Fedor has beaten men 100+ pounds heavier than him...

So, there's a point in weight and skill gap where it doesn't matter either way.

If both fighters are equally skilled, the larger fighter will win 8.5/10 times...

A smaller badass has a good chance versus a larger one...you see it in MMA ...like DC just beat Stipe when he went back up a weight class, giving up 6 inches of height and more reach.

I would argue 100 pounds, assuming some sort of fitness and not just pure fat, is a pretty significant gap to bridge. I got to do some full contact with a girl who was a Pan Am Games champion TKD fighter and I easily handled her. Her "skill level" was way, way beyond mine but I just quickly closed and overwhelmed her. Our weight difference was probably 70 pounds.

That's what I was getting at. Fedor whipped Zulu. Herring whipped Giant Silva.

Weight and height is very advantageous, but it's not dispositive. Technique and skill will often times beat a weight and height advantage.

male vs female

Not much argument with 100lbs. That's a significant advantage.

Bruce basically preached using every advantage given to you, including going for the eyes, groin, etc.

If the football player was wearing a helmet (assuming with a good face mask) and cup, Bruce’s chances rest on getting a throat shot to disable the player and/or using the player’s vision and mobility limitations against them.

Not saying Bruce wins a lot of times out of 100 but you only have to get a lucky shot or two in to open the door for more.
