I have to show my ID every time I buy beer at the grocery store. I am in my 50’s. There was a lady in front of me that was in her 80’s. She bought wine and had to show her ID. I asked the cashier, and she said it is law to ID everyone, no matter the age.

I agree with you. Pouncing on this exchange is an over reaction and unnecessary. But booing the CNN guy was an over reaction too. People are too easily manipulated and the libs and trump know it and use it....very sad state of the nation. We need jack nicholson...he can handle the truth!

Well said bro.

If a few more persons who post on the PoliBoard had the kahunas to make such a declaration, this board wouldn't be as intolerable as it is currently.

But that's booze. Do really want every time you go to a parking meter that a cop has to determine if the debit card belongs to you by showing ID?

His statement was just a metaphor based on the old use of credit cards which say right on them "must present ID when using"
I remember my parents using credit cards with no mag strip, and they did have to show ID in stores that did not know them.

Is it possible that Trump has not personally bought anything since the 1970s?

They do not. But they are supposed to. Employees are just too lazy or uninformed to do it.

Well, this is not correct.

VISA and MasterCard both prohibit stores from refusing a customer who presents a signed card. Doesn't matter if they have ID or not.

AMEX just asks that the store verify the cardholders ID.

So most stores don't see the need to ask for ID if the card is signed

Where I live, if you use a debit card, you have to show an ID to prove the debit card is your name. Every place does this.

Getting asked for your ID when using your credit card does indeed happen sometimes.

It does. And I always thank the cashier for being attentive. But they can't refuse to let you purchase with a signed card even if you don't have ID

But defending the comment as if it were anything but a misstatement is just ridiculous.

it was erroneously broad in scope, but not inaccurate.

People do, frequently, have to show ID when they buy groceries. This isn't even debatable.

This isn't the case all of the time, but it does happen.

A simple "occasionally" thrown in there would have helped to clarify a bit, but the histrionics from the left on this have been quite a sight to behold.

This is indeed done in a lot of areas that stores get hit with people using stolen cards. OR when they have a fake thing placed to read cards.

What's getting pathetic is taking what the establishment fake news tells you and carrying that water while you attribute it to an entire segment of the population.

That's not the law. I had a run in with a Wal Mart employee a few months ago. Was there with my adult son. Bought some beer, asked for ID I showed mine, son didn't have his on him the woman went ape shite claiming she couldn't sell to me because my son who was not buying the beer was with me and didn't have ID, dumb bitch I asked "are you telling me that if I came in here with my 12 year old daughter that I can't buy beer because she's not 21?" Had to get the store manager involved. I got my beer.

clearly, and they don't ask for an ID. I can't remember the last time I've been asked for an ID to use a credit or debit card. Maybe in small town Louisiana when they have to take it back and physically copy it to a piece of paper.
