I did not like the fact that O promoted Ensminger to OC...

However, there are things to like about him being OC. He’s an LSU man through and through, and he has a complete knowledge of various offenses.

My concern isn’t that he can’t succeed, but that there will be times where he struggles. What happens then will be key.

We have heard that O trusts him. That’s easy to say in the preseason or when the offense is working. If Ensminger’s offense starts to struggle in a game, though, how long will it be before O panics and interferes? Will there be tension internally like last year? O has shown a propensity to panic when things aren’t going his way.

I have more confidence in Ensminger to figure things out and work through his struggles than I do in Orgeron trusting him to make the right adjustments when things aren’t going well.

Hopefully O has learned to leave the offense alone and trust his guy.

That he hasn't implemented any sort of system in 2 decades. That should be a huge concern for all fans.

My biggest concern is he’ll take advice and say yes sir to our Dline coach.

That Ed O will control him and thus our offense.

That he hasn’t ran his own offense in years

He wasn’t a good OC when he was coaching that position. When he left auburn al borges came in and made Jason Campbell a good quarterback. He sucked under ensminger.

I’m concerned he is just a yes man to orgeron.

Not knowing what kind of schemes he will run.

We looked great against the weaker teams not so much against the 2 decent defenses that we faced

Biggest concern is him not having installed an offense in nearly two decades, and the last one he installed isn’t the one he is installing now. How does he teach within this system having never done so before? Without having installed this offense and experienced going through a season with it, how well does he anticipate and adapt to the moves and counter moves from opposing DCs to stop it? While he is an experienced assistant, he doesn’t have any recent experience doing all of the things required of an OC, outside of calling plays on gameday, and he doesn’t have any experience coordinating the kind of offense we are allegedly moving toward.

That his scheme from the 80s will be outdated. I have trust in him as well though because he is atleast saying he will do RPOs and use our WR talent. He has everything he needs to put up big numbers except a feature back.

That Orgeron's propaganda department will successfully blame this season on Ensminger.

My biggest concern about Ensminger is that he hasn't been an OC in 20 years. He has specifically stated he didn't want to be OC. And O had to talk him into accepting the job. There's really not a lot to go off of regarding Ensminger.

There are no excuses this year for Ed though. He has the coach he wants.

He hasn't been an OC since the mid 90's and wasn't very good even then.

That should concern everyone.

Joe Burrow! A good quarterback can make almost any coach look good.

Example! Favre - Hallman

That the ND bowl game was his offense and not Canada's last.

I think you frickers think too much and you should let the chips fall where they may. Coach O and staff are busting their arse to put together the best team that they can. Recruiting is looking great and we got promise for the first time at QB since Mett. If O fails and hes getting top talent then next man up, but until then I'll support him and staff.

Concern is definitely there, but Orgeron wants to win games. This is Orgerons dream job he knows damn well that weather he stays here or gets the boot will be the decision about hiring Ensminger and the offense. He felt comfortable with Ensminger there and thinks he gives us a good chance. Orgeron isn’t looking to be fired. I’ll leave it at that and see what happens.

There are several concerns. One that that's been undersold is the fact that he had to be convinced to do the job.

Most position coaches would kill to be a coordinator at a major program, and he said thanks but no thanks at first. How do you have any confidence that that guy will be into this 100%?

Can he build his own offense that works in today’s football?

...that he won't be proficient in implementing whatever scheme he is trying to implement because he really hasn't been a coordinator in forever.

Playcalling, while important, is probably only 10% of what makes a coordinator successful. It's all of the behind the scenes work in which you shorten the learning curve, and perfect the things that make an offense successful that is really hard to do.
