Miami of Ohio was a lot worse. There were only two losses that year during the Regular Season and the other was Ole Miss. The two worse teams. They still won the SEC and lost the Sugar Bowl.

True, but we were 8-3 going to the SECCG in 2001. I think a more appropriate bet would be to have at least the same record. We benefited from everyone else in the SECW sucking that year. That is not the case this year, so if you want the bet to be correct, then it needs to be based on records.

But people are excusing O's loss to Troy because Saban lost to UAB. If they apply the same standard, than O needs to win the SEC this year. These comparisons to Saban are ridiculous.

Truth. I'm not taking anything away from our 2001 squad, but they did benefit from an anomaly in the Western Division. Our biggest competition that year was Auburn and they finished the season 7-5. This same division is now the most competitive in college football. That being said, if O does not meet or exceed Saban's 5-3 Conference record I am all for showing him the door.

Couldn't agree more. Very well said. All 3 teams weren't prepared very well leading up to those losses and none of the 3 had any business losing those games.
