Your run elevation is going to be amazing. All the cats you see getting 7000ft a week in NO are rocking the Fenix.
That's something I've noticed with the Strava group members. Some of their elevation numbers are downright dirty lies and the Fenix 6 appears to be a common connector. What's up with that?

8-13 mph E winds tomorrow morning.
Monday looks to be 11 mph NE, Tuesday 10 mph NNW, and Wednesday 9 WSW.
Pretty consistent.

I had the same issue, but with Forerunner 935. The thing would say I'd covered 1,500+ feet of vert during a 10-mile run around the LSU Lakes. (Pretty flat, for those not familiar with BR.) I re-calibrated the sensor on the altimeter and have since gotten readings that seem to me correct (i.e., zero vert in Nola).

Das alotta easy. It’s the common thought here, but seems like at this point that would be detrimental to you.
I’d love to be a fly on the wall for y’all video conference Monday, ha.
Curious how much you paid for coach/plan?

I pussed out and ran a 10K rather than 9 miles today. Little hungover and tired. Oh well, still had great pacing. I have to be more disciplined on Friday nights and not slug back five beers and a doubleshot daiquiri.

I effectively quit drinking by forcing myself to stick to my prescribed/planned runs
“Oh you got shite-hammered last night? Guess what you’re doing today dickhead”
Started cutting way back on my drinking really quickly. I do not, however, recommend that

I gotta say though, those ice cold draft Miller Lites were deeeeeeeeelightful. It was the nasty arse daiquiri that kept me from sleeping well.

Haha, I can relate. I had to lay off the bushwhackers from TBT since I knew I was running a half today. Ticked me off; those things are good and they were bogo
I see a Garmin fenix 5s in nola for $225 used. Anyone got a take on that? I’ve never had a running watch. I’ve always carried my phone in one hand.

Alright, so I email dude and I'm like "mind if I throw in a few extra runs". Not 2 minutes later he's cussing me out over the phone talking about how I need to "trust the process" and "are we going to this or not". I said "it be a lot easier to trust you if your plan didn't look like "week 6 of a Hanson's beginner marathon" plan. That got him hot, boy. Essentially he's explained to me that 1. He's finally looked at my training and I need the break and he needs to protect himself. 2. He thinks that if I had dropped miles a little sooner, I'm in sub 1:11 shape.
He has my respect now; I will continue the plan.
Needed some reassurance, I'm not very good at shut up and color.
@JB
That's how I did it and quit smoking too. Good for you man. That's awesome.

Well, that's reassuring. You seem like an honest enough fella I reckon.

Like, for your taper? Or drop miles down to lower miles throughout your plan? You have no definitive race anytime soon, correct?

I have a basic Garmin Forerunner 35 and it does great for all things running. It’s ugly though.
How was the half?

Lol, I have to say I like the sound of this guy. Personally, I think he might be a good fit for you based off of that conversation. From what I can tell, you're going to want to do things your own way (which makes sense, you've had a lot of success and I don't blame you). For things to work, you'll need somebody to talk to you straight. And it sounds like he's earning your trust that way.
Btw, in the grand scheme, a few 45-50 mile weeks at the start of the relationship probably won't kill you. If he's still got you on 40 miles in two months, then you might have a problem

Both, he seems to think I have a lot more talent than I think I have.

Good to know. All I do is run now. Maybe one day I’ll get into biking and swimming, but I just need something for running. The 35 is a much better price.
Half was okay. I tried a new route, and the route was great except for the traffic trying to cross Hwy 59...and since it was an out and back, I had to do it twice
Also, didn’t leave until 11 because one kid didn’t go to bed til 2 and the other woke up from 4-5 and again at 8. It was 79 deg with 79% humidity, and I was physically tired before the run even started. But all in all, it was a nice comfy run. Definitely wasn’t setting out for anything close to a PB, which was good, haha.

Alright I’m back in. I got fat and out of shape with weight lifting. Peaked at a little over 40 miles a week back in spring 2019 but I can barely run 2 miles now without having to walk.
I don’t want to stop strength training, so it’s going to be interesting to see if I can truly do both. I believe I can as evidenced by a separate post from the other day.
Goal is to start with 10 miles this week and bump up 2-3 miles each week. There’s a half marathon in October I’m eyeing, so plenty of time to do a slow build up.
2 miles this morning. 10:43/mile pace. Sucked but here we go.

Met the Sat AM run group for the first time in a while. We aren’t still “official” yet, but we had a good group of folks.
I ran with the 12 mile group. This was my second time to do 12 miles. First time in weeks that I ran without something bothering me. Not sure if it’s the IT band exercises and stretching I’m doing or just the adrenaline of being in the group. They were pacing at 9:00 which is a little much for me. We formed a 9:30 group at about mile 9 to finish it out.
I’ve really missed the group runs. It’s easier to push myself as there is ALWAYS someone faster. There’s a Thursday night group that runs downtown from the various breweries. Looking forward to trying that one out.

Sounds Ike the Nick Saban of running.
