Ran the Louisiana Marathon on January 19th. Quite disappointed in my time (4:31).
A bit difficult staying motivated after the marathon but still trying 3-4 days a week and trying (notice I said trying) to hit 100 miles a month.

Two miles in 14:44 on the treadmill.
Yes, I hate treadmills, so I decided to get the over quickly.

Ordered the book you suggested. Got a work trip next week so I should be able to knock it out and start fresh on a training plan.
I still vary my runs when not in a training block. This week looks like:
Mon - 10 min treadmill before weights
Tues - 4 mi easy
Wed - Intervals (1 WU, 6x800 @ 3:45-4:00, 1 WD) This felt so good this morning. Nice and cold with a little rain.
Thurs - 5 or 6 mi easy
Fri - 10 min treadmill before weights
Sat - 12-14 mi Long
Sun - 4-6 easy
Trying to stay around 30 mpw and focus on speed.

Any of you quicker runners interested in running a 10k in Ponchatoula on April 5th? This race checks most all of the boxes for what I was looking for. Early April 10k, close to my house, and cheap ($25). My only issue is that the winning time is usually rather pedestrian... 41:21 in 2018 and 41:56 in 2019. I'll be shooting for a sub 41:00, but most likely won't happen if I happen to be by myself.

The Strawberry Strut. I ran it as a kid and recently (3 years ago) as an adult. Nothing great about it but it's a race that you can win.

whats with the hate of treadmills? sure everyone enjoys running outside more but a treadmill is a training tool and if used properly its rather beneficial. Just never understood exactly why people just hate them so much.

1) they make my left shin hurt about half a mile in.
2) they’re boring. Running on a treadmill feels like a chore compared to an enjoyable outdoor jog (regardless of weather).

The treadmills at my gym are positioned behind the ellipticals and behind and right of the stair masters. The scenery is what keeps me going.

When I travel for work the hotel gyms are packed with people on treadmills, even when I am in an interesting place and the weather is nice. Screw that, get outside. The only time I used one was when I was in a po dunk TX oil town where the only road had no shoulder and huge trucks whizzing by continuously. And it was dark. I used the treadmill day one, then day two drove my car a few miles away to run in the depressingly moribund center of town. Still better than a treadmill.

Three miles in 23:54 today. I felt slow but apparently I wasn't, as this is my best three-mile time in . . . ever

Very good time. Haven't got there yet - I'm stuck at 25 minutes.

I decided to order this book as well. This will be the first book I’ve ever read about running. Up to this point, I’ve only just gone out and run with a goal in kind but never following a plan. I’m hoping this will help me progress.

I'm still trying to start mine.

This isn't from that book, but it is from an article about Brad Hudson's adaptive running philosophy.
It's a nice example.

Bruh-slow down. You're going to kick my arse on 3/21
Just looked at my best 5k time ever: 25:06. It was last week in the middle of a 6.5 miler.

They have an app where you can check-in and get your bib number now. But as to someone picking up your bib, this is from my e-mail on 2/4:

All registered participants must attend Athlete Check-In at the Expo and pick up their own individual materials. Bibs will not be given to friends or family members under any circumstance.

Got my NYM entry. I’m in. I guess that means they honored my guaranteed entry attempt and verified my time. Woot!
