3/21. Gonna have to focus for the next 7 weeks.

It seems like there’s always one or two folks you’ll run by and they smell like they haven’t bathed for a week. The guy that caught my nose today was particularly bad.

Damn that’s tough, but always the Jazz in October...just have to be cool with training in 100 degree heat indexes lol.

Agree on your last note...there were some rank smells when I was walking around Lafayette Square pre-race.

What’s your training schedule look like the next few weeks?

I haven’t figured one out, yet. Probably about like yours but maybe add a 5th day if I can. But this week will be light-probably 3-6-9.

I did the 2019 Jazz in 2:06 last year and the MS Gulf Coast in 2:04, and trained less for those than I did the RnR. Training in heat doesn’t necessarily bother me. I think just the temp switch did. My HR is usually 145-150 running a 9 min pace. It was at 160 and higher yesterday.

The bad one that I smelled in race was an 11 on a BO scale of 1–10. Just awful. Made my stomach turn.

Man, y’all worry about some trivial shite, haha. Somebody sweating during a race? Should be a reason to go faster and pass em up!

LOL I only noticed it pre race. The 10k was pretty empty, think I ran 5 of the 6.2 pretty much solo.

Forgot to mention, think I secured 3rd place in my age group. Pretty psyched.

I registered for a 10 K in about a month. I’m hoping to keep the training pretty consistent and knock a good bit of time off last years effort.

First 50k in three weeks. Feeling good after Louisiana marathon. Gonna try to use that fitness to my advantage. If all goes well I may try a 50 miler end of March.

Four miles in 33:10 tonight. Not my fastest. Felt myself slowing near the end of mile two. Two miles tomorrow, three Wednesday, and eight Saturday (most I’ve ever run).

Just curious. What’s the longest training run you have for a 50K and how many weeks is that before your race?

I am doing a 5 hour run on Saturday (2 weeks before race day).It should be between 27-30 miles. My other post marathon long runs were 3 and 4 hours.

For the 50k I have been doing my long runs for time instead of miles. It’s really about increasing my time on feet.

Part of my pre-race routine is a shower and shave. Wakes me up and helps pass the time between my bagel and bowel movement.

I’m looking for some light weight rain gear for running. I have a northface that’s good running when it’s super cold (worked well in the snow last weekend) but I’m looking for something to wear when it’s in the 40’s and wet. Anybody have any suggestions?

If you can already run a marathon you can run a 50k unless the terrain and elevation profile is vastly different. I have zero knowledge of your running history but in general If you just ran RnR I wouldn't advise running another 5 our run this weekend. It just isn't needed and may lead to lingering fatigue that may catch up to you on race day.

Two miles in . . . 17:55 last night. I was very, very slow. Still beat pace, but barely. I am very tired. Work has been whipping my arse this week.

No excuses though. I was running slow and could’ve picked up the pace. Due to rain, I’m afraid I’ll have to run on the dreaded treadmill tonight

Nasty weather here all day. Looks like a two-a-day tomorrow. It'll be -5 windchill in the morning but doable.

I have an earlier version of this. I wear it in the summer and cooler temps when raining.
